Wow, way to tell me I was fired. Way to call me back, after you had said you would. Way to be up and out of your way to let me know to not walk the 40 minutes it takes to get there this afternoon. Good on you. You’re my heros.

  1. yeah that sucks.i got fired from a cahs job like that once too.needed the job for rent, the boss knew it, and after an ‘ill call you at the end of the week for next job’ i got a disconnected cellphone number from him.

  2. Actually, if you were scheduled to work that day you are entitled to a minimum of 3 hours pay for your trouble. That’s law. Simple. There may even have been a certain protocol that needed to be followed prior to “firing” you. If you did nothing illegal and you’ve been there for past 3 months (standard probation period for both employee and employer) you’re likely entitled to a written warning before dismissal or at least pay in lieu of notice AND all other separation monies. If you were working “under the table”, it’s not your responsibility to deduct taxes at the source. It’s your employer’s! It’s outlined in the documents they receive when they are given a business number. If you haven’t provided a completed T1 form the employer is obligated to deduct at a level 1 rate. The employer is in the wrong and can be made accountable. One more thing for all of you “working under the table” in the labor force… if you are treated as a “contractor” it’s up to the site super to ensure all who enter have appropriate insurance (and maybe even the proper tickets) including WSIB. If you’re hurt on the job it is STILL the employer’s and/or site supervisor’s responsibility.

  3. I was working there for a month. I went in for my normal shift one day, They said that I didn’t work for 3 days, in order for them to train a new girl. I was like, Sweet I have the weekend off. I called that Sunday as I said I would, My manager said that she would call me back to let me know ‘what was up’ but didn’t call back. Therefor, I assumed that I still had a job. Went in the following Tuesday for my shift, and they pointed to the schedual and said You’re not on it, you don’t work here anymore…. What a way to get fired. They took me off during the 3 day ‘training period’ for the new girl, and didn’t tell me. Epic fail on their part..Yeah, my boss knew this was my only job, and I needed it for rent, bills, food, kitten stuff, and other necessities. They’re awesome and ‘pwn n00bs’.. literally.
