Hey there, I don’t know about you guys but I am kind of peeved about the fact that there was absolutely no news coverage about the local coffee chain completely ripping us off and getting away with it scot free a few months ago. Also not cool, the previous owners still living the life, in fact working good jobs, with no remorse for the lives they threw into tumble so suddenly. I am in a way better place now, as I hope all of you are, but I think some sort of statement should be made. Businesses should not be able to do that to their hardworking employees and get away with it. —Hoping for Change

  1. Interesting, maybe you could elaborate on where these scums are working now so we can spread the word?

  2. Ms. M’s bitch aura shouldn’t be hard to sense I would think. It is odd there was nothing in the news about it. Those people have to live with themselves, so chin up.

  3. Oh for fuck sakes, really? So you’re mad because they went out of business? I’m sure they were super happy to see all their hard work they invested over the years go to shit because they had to compete with a coffee mega giant, with multimillion dollar a year advertising budgets. They probably held on longer than they should have keeping you employed, but eventually ran out of money and had to close. I know the concept of a business closing right in the middle of a recession is hard to grasp. It’s unfortunate that you lost out on a couple days pay, but I betting they lost more than a couple hundred bucks, and I haven’t seen any footage of them wearing striped shirts and masks and running away with bags of cash. The fact they are working, not sipping drinks on some Dominican beach is proof positive they didn’t walk away with much. It’s time to quit being bitter and get on with your life.

  4. umm..actually Steven Harper is the Devil, I happen to be a former employee of the place I think OP is referring to( Ps- so true about bitch aura Furious Styles!Lol :D) Going out of business is one thing – you could write a notice to your employees, but leaving the middle of the night taking everything(even tips which we were required to leave) is a different story. I was hired by the head bitch herself just a couple of weeks before it all went down, I had previously worked for years at another location, and thought ” great!” Only a couple weeks later did I end up like everyone else, no pay cheque( thers hadn’t received it in a month!) So I ask you Steven Harper is the Devil, does that sound like an organization who deserves empathy? They knew they were bankrupt and yet hired on more people to slave so they could make more cash. I am thankful as You OP, to be in a much better less dictated place, and also agree they deserve to be sought out. Anyone check them on facebook? Mr Jackass is apparently an accountant :0 Don’t worry OP, Karma will find them 🙂 Chin up 🙂

  5. “and I haven’t seen any footage of them wearing striped shirts and masks and running away with bags of cash.”

Ok. This situation sucks and everyone who got fucked (even being fucked out of an hour’s pay is the shits) has my complete sympathy, but…. SHITTY-D’s ‘striped shirts and masks’ bit did make me LOL.

And for some reason it made me picture THIS in my head:

  6. Hey Perkies, that place was going downhill at an exponential rate, sorry for the way it played out for the employees.

  7. well and besides.. aren’t there safeguards in place to protect an employee if their business goes out of business? So they can at least get their last paycheque?

    No really i’m asking.

  8. As much as this sucks it may be a Move On situation, there might be avenues to check into but if your not willing to do the work and expect someone else to I think it best to leave alone.

  9. Their coffee sucked. Maybe they realized it and figure best to fold the business and make a run from it.

  10. I do agree with this bitch, my good friend and neighbor worked for those guys for years. I know I’d be pissed off too and so would all of you. You know if the place was broken into and/or robbed that’d make the news, but they can rob their employees blind and the media doesn’t give a shit.

  11. PK, I thought of that too. I remember once my little cousin telling me you could spot a burglar by the striped shirt and mask lol like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

  12. ik,yes, when my wife’s employer went bankrupt, the trustee paid out a partial paycheque and there was a government dept that reimbursed her for the balance of unpaid wages to a max of a few thousand dollars.

I mentioned this the last time the topic came up, if any of you former employees didn’t bother to look into it, then I have no sympathy for your lazy arses.

  13. Get a piece of neon bristol board, some ink and a pen and write SHAME ON YOU and post it on their boarded up shops, when nobody’s looking, for all to see.

  14. Hi Great Value, most of us did seek Government help( in fact I entered with a group) I filled out the EPP like everyone else, but unfortunately , as I found out when a company goes bankrupt, the money salvaged goes to the land lords, and suppliers owed first. Most former employees don’t see a penny for a very long time if at all. I am happy that your wife’s situation worked out though 🙂 Good luck!
