  1. Do you realize that the word “pilot”, in the tv world, means an episode of proposed series that is produced, in order to present the series to networks. The fact that you think someone can be on a “pilot t.v. show for 7 seasons” makes me wonder if you are a dumbass.Have you seen Mike Smith portraying another character? If you have only seen him as Bubbles, who are you to comment on his acting abilities? If you think that one dimensional pretty boy Tom Cruise is a good actor, that pretty much cements the fact that you are a dumbass. The Trailer Park Boys are a big thing in the maritimes, because it is set in Nova Scotia, and it is one of (if not the) most successful Canadian shows of all time. Can you name a bigger tv show that came from Nova Scotia (or anyother maritime province)? When a local actor becomes world famous, it is a big thing.

  2. No wonder you are confused… Tom “Bone Smoker” Cruise couldn’t act his way out of a wet paper bag.

  3. This show was and is fucking awesome, that’s why people love those guys. I think that in watching this it got a little too close to home for you. Flashbacks of your own trailer park with Mom putting out for everybody for cash, Dad walking around with a big gut, no shirt. You get the idea.On a serious note though, it sounds to me as if you should ask your bartender that night what he was serving you. It sounds like you had a large dose of Haterade with a splash of jealousy. I’m sure that you probably felt a little inadequate sitting at a table where I’m sure a raging sausage party was taking place while Mike sat with some adoring ladies that you wish you had a chance with.Oh yeah, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt????????? Dumbass is an understatement!

  4. I was talking to this Somalian guy in Qatar and we were talking about good tv shows. He brought up the Trailer Park boys, not knowing where the hell Halifax, Nova Scotia was (or caring) and went on about how funny the show was, he’d been downloading the episodes for a while . This isn’t the first non-Canadian I’ve run into overseas who knows about them. I would say that THAT alone is a reason to worship them.

  5. I hate the show ,myself. Most of the local popularity of it simply comes from what bobby was saying- it’s set here and the actors are from here, so we’re all proud of that. In a weird way, I’m proud of it, too, becuause it is so rare for anything from around here to be so popular and world reknowned, but I still hate the show. Still, if the show was made in BC, we wouldn’t care as much.To the OP, I think you’re missing out the obvious as to what the bartender was doing in pointing out a celebrity on the premises. I’m sure that if your god, Tom Cruise, was sitting in the next booth, the bartender would’ve been pointing that out to you, as well. A celebrity’s a celebrity, and we all point and gush when they’re in the vicinity.

  6. I agree with you ‘losing sleep’ , in what you say about Mike Smith…but then again I care about actors the world over about as much as I care for warm beer. I liked the show ‘Trailer Park Boys’ & I liked the latest Hellboy movie. So what ! Actors are people who act as they are directed, speak words written for them by others, their appearence & dress is designed & implemented by other professionals…why does anyone give a shit about what they do & what they may have to say when they’re not acting ?I’ve never understood that, just because you enjoy a “PART” they’ve played doesn’t in any way reflect on who they may or may not be as a person. They certainly are no more important, or more relevant than you , me or anyone else .

  7. He came from a no nothing area in New Glasgow and is now one of the more popular maritimers.Same with Sidney Crosby in my eyes.He became famous and made something of himself, that’s something to appreciate. And the fact that people who doesn’t even know Nova Scotia EXISTS know him and view him as a somebody and he in turn talks about his home says something. That is why people love him.

  8. Some people like the show, some don’t. Personally I love it and am looking forward to seeing the last episode tonight. It’s as they say, “One man’s garbage is another man person’s good ungarbage.”

  9. As much as I hate Tom Cruise, I still think he can act. Most of the films he chooses are pretty cheesy (Mission Impossible to name one!), but when he picks good roles, he’s great. Did you see him in Magnolia?

  10. Tom Cruise is too schlocky – he embues his acting with self-importance and misses any delicate emotions and expressions that are important for making a role believable. Its the difference between an “actor” and a “movie star”. Not to say his performances aren’t kind of enjoyable from time to time, but like most “stars”: he’s paid far more than he’s worth.

  11. You’re probably right Optimus Prime Rib, and he’s such a creep- look at how hard he grips his wife in photos- control freak! Katie Holmes is pathetic too

  12. I think pretty much everything about TPB is repulsive. But why pick on the actor? He’s just a guy doing a job. (Though I am curious to see if he ever gets to play another character that isn’t exactly the same as this one…)

  13. Why Mike Smith is considered an actor is beyond me. Sure, he plays a character in a popular TV show… but an actor? Lets see where his character playing career goes after TPB ends, then we’ll see if he’s an actor.

  14. TPB did a lot to put Halifax and the Maritimes on the map. These boys are down-to-earth, hilarious, and their fan base is world-wide. They are not the cheesy scandal-makers of the gilded Hollywierd. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end.

  15. “Lets see where his character playing career goes after TPB ends, then we’ll see if he’s an actor”.Egon, Why not regale us with the success you’ve had entertaining millions of people with a hit TV show and a movie? Oh that’s tight, YOU CAN’T… Yer just jealous, so shaddupp. Stick to Bandanna shopping.

  16. He is actually a really nice, down to earth, quiet guy. He doesn’t come off as full of himself or have a better than you attitude. I think he had a good time working on TPB.. I’m not sure his plan was to become Tom Cruise rather than to have a good time, a few laughs, all the while making money doing it. Wouldn’t you if you could? Maybe people make such a big deal about him because he is a local celebrity and doesn’t act like a complete douche.

  18. Why would this cause OP to lose sleep? He obviously wants to achieve the status that theyhave, but knows that he can’t. Definition of a redneck: someone who displays a behavior orpossesses a character trait that is considered to be a “lack of sophistication”, or a “lack ofclass”. Based on the testimonials from the other people here, he doesn’t seem to be a”redneck” in real life, so if he played the role of a “redneck” well, then he does havecredibility as an actor. The loser part: the character Bubbles is actually a good-heartedperson. That cancels out the “loser” part, because “losers” are not as caring as Bubbles.Even if you consider living in a shed next to a trailer a trait that a loser would possess, then he did a good job at portraying the role of loser, which is another credit to hisacting abilities. Considering that he tries his best with a good attitude and is successful at what he does in real life: acting, and owning Bubbles Mansion. He’s not a loser in reallife. And in person, Mike Smith being a nice guy to everyone he meets, not a stuck-upsnob, and doesn’t take his fame to head; that means he’s not a loser. If he is a reason why tourists become interested in N.S., and our area is actually noticedacross Canada, and even in other parts of the world, then he deserves praise. If you think you can do better than him, or if you think you can do better than Jean-PaulTremblay or Robb Wells at acting, then I’d like to see you try. The actors of Trailer Park Boys have done a lot of good with their show, regardless of the marijuana activity, and the other reckless behavior. You insulted a local icon, and you got bitched out for it.Oh, yeah; the Say Goodnight To The Bad Guys special kicked ass. I almost crappedmyself when Cyrus showed up. I didn’t think he’d be on it.
