People smoke, and that’s fine. Your choice. But STOP SMOKING at bus stops (where it is technically illegal) and in front of doors.
I am allergic to cigarette smoke – it causes me to have coughing fits and headaches. I have just as much right to stand and wait for the bus as you do – but by law, I should be able to do it without having to breathe lungfuls of some asshole’s cigarette.
I am tired of smokers bitching about non-smokers; you’re the one with the addiction that you are forcing everyone else to breathe in. Learn some fucking courtesy, and take that shit upwind. —Prefer my lungs cancer-free, thanks

well it was a week w/o smoking bitches that’s pretty good 🙂
lol @ the tag
Here’s the facts, OP – cigarettes are legal. Until they are illegal, you either a) get yourself a car or b) suck it up. People don’t give a sweet shit if you’re allergic or not – as long as they’re outside, they’re gonna huff and puff and blow your lungs down. I wonder, however, how many people are REALLY allergic and not just using that as an excuse.
“it causes me to have coughing fits and headaches”
it usually does that to non-smokers….
especially when they’ve had their first whole one.
I don’t think you’re allergic… just regular schmoe like everyone else.
I’m allergic to vehicle exhaust fumes, so what.
I bet OP is a vegan who’s allergic to smoke.
here we go again with douchebags trying to dictate what we can do outdoors. you can go fuck yourself, and the rest of the douchebags that agree with you. you people are the cause of what is wrong in the world today. with all your whining about every little motherfucking thing. why don’t all you anti’s just crawl in a fucking deep hole and fucking leave the rest f us people alone.
I’m going to douse my blisteringly hot body in Axe one day and stand next to a smoker. Get real close. If they make one peep about my perfume choice, I will recite what’s above me like a decree from the King.
go for it donkey, but stand next to a non smoker too.
I’ve been buying them & just letting them burn…just to piss people off.
I don’t smoke anymore….but its still fun to light them & wave them around, like incense .
I feel like I fit in then ~:)
The heaviest smokers I know are vegetarians – go fucking figure.
But TTFN, that’s ok, tobacco is a plant.
here’s a thought.. most two feet to the left.
smoke really doesn’t travel that far outside and unless you’re standing right next to someone it’s not a health issue.
OP actually has a point it is illegal as of Sept 1 to smoke on all Municipal Property, the Bridge Terminal is Municipal Property making it illegal, as well I think all bus stops fall under this.
Yes, it is illegal to smoke around bus shelters and doorways, and most smokers don’t care, but you know what…FUCK OFF.
Would you ever smoke a cigarette near a cat, BWN?
Nope.
Good fucking luck with putting a smoke ban at bus stops. Better bring in Brindi the dog to enforce it, give her an AK-47 to carry. You non-smoking twits can whinge and whine all you want – it’s still outdoors and dissipating faster than you can say ‘fuck you and your blue canoe’. By the way, I’m an ex-smoker.
LOL if you prefer your lungs cancer free, move to Antarctica – that’s about the only place you won’t be inhaling industry and society’s carcinogens, most of them not tobacco related… fuck tard
and I quote
“The policy applies to all outdoor recreation facilities that are owned and administered by HRM. Locations where large outdoor events are held including Parade Square and Alderney Landing are currently not covered by the policy. For a complete listing of the locations covered by the new policy, please visit http://www.halifax.ca.”
and the link
http://www.halifax.ca/boardscom/smoking/in…
I don’t happen to see this place on the list so bugger off
“The policy falls under the Protection of Property Act and requires that signs be posted in areas where the policy applies so people know how to comply with the policy (not smoke or use other tobacco products).
We hope to have 450 signs installed by the fall of 2010. Signs will be installed on a priority basis by HRM staff over the next four years due to budget restraints and the cost of signage.”
see any signs stating as much?
actually, it may be. I have no idea what the ‘bridge terminal’ is classified as…. but it may fall under
“ferry, ferry terminal, bus, bus station or shelter, taxi, taxi shelter, limousine or vehicle carrying passengers for hire”
still … it’s not enforced unless there are signs.
People need to respect other peoples space. I’m a bit of a closet smoker. I don’t smoke around anyone….I don’t really like people smoking around my personal space unless I’m a part of that smoke in a designated smoking area. I don’t cough or bitch or give people dirty looks…but I think everyone has the right to not have smoke in their faces if they choose not to smoke. My coat got a burn mark by some chick smoking walking down SGR in the middle of the afternoon…I wanted to punch the little bitch out!! and she couldn’t care less… For the love of Goodness RESPECT other people for crying out loud!!
I’m a smoker but I always smoke away from people. It’s not difficult – at every bus terminal there is somewhere you can go AWAY from people to smoke. It pisses me off when I see people smoking at the terminals, not giving a shit.. especially when there are lots of people around and someone just lights up. It’s so inconsiderate. It’s my choice to smoke but I don’t have the right to pollute other people’s lungs with it.
well said Donkey and Naveed…those who have no respect for others have no respect for themselves…i pity them..i blame their parents for raising someone so ignorant. I find smokers are actually MORE like vegans and vegetarians. They have a chosen lifestyle and think the world should bend to their lack of courtesy and manners. If you cant deal with the rules then dont smoke. Its quite simple. If you choose to smoke you are going to be inconvenienced more and more every year and spend a fortune on something that could have gone elsewhere.
Although i will say one positive thing about cigarettes. It helps weed out the weak-minded and weak-willed people in our society and makes them easily identifiable with the lit cig, finger and tooth stains, rank smell, thinning dulling hair etc etc etc…there are people…then there are smokers and farther down the totem pole you can imagine what is just below them…
Ever hear that sexy, hack-up-some-cancer-cells cough those smokers have. Yuck. And to think someone would sleep with a smoker. Yuck!!
zZz: there *are* signs at bus stops/terminals! I’ve seen them…and usually there’s something sucking on a cancer stick right below them. The bylaw is NEVER enforced.
What pisses me off, isn’t the smoking itself, it’s when people just stand in a crowd of people at the terminals and light up their smokes and blow it in your face. And then you get another one on the other side so you’re sandwiched in. Or when you attempt to move and they follow you or keep walking around. Is it REALLY that tough to walk away from the crowd and stay in one spot while you light up? A LOT do, but it’s the assholes that make all smokers look like dipshits.
Also, Sebastard, I worked with someone who had smoked for 50 years. Her skin was wrinkled beyond belief, she had a gray complexion, and her voice was all hacky. She couldn’t go 5 minutes without havin a smoke and would break up her breaks into 2 or 3 minute intervals so she could constantly go outside for a smoke. And this woman was ‘happily’ married. *shakeshead*
I miss natural selection…
