To you cheap fucks that come to our restaurant and don’t leave tips… who the fuck do you think you are? We work hard to please you and provide you with a pleasant dining experience. I go out of my way to do my best and to find that you don’t leave me a tip pisses me off. I will remember your face so that next time you come in I will make sure something extra gets added to your food ingredients. Start tipping or get the fuck out. —Mandatory Tipping

Fuck you, OP. Tipping isn’t mandatory.
I always tip, but one thing I’ve thought about tipping waiters/waitresses is why is it based on the price of the food? It should be based on how many items they bring to your table, like $1 per plate or glass that they carry to you. Think about it, if they bring you a single plate with filet mignon, lobster, and some fancy expensive salad on it, why do you have to leave an $8 tip? When in comparison someone orders a cheap appetizer, then a cheap meal, a glass of water, and then some dessert. Clearly the second server did more work but will only get $2 to $3 for all of their effort.
Dose anyone else see my point? I guess it just is based on the fact that people who spend more on food can afford bigger tips.
I would like to ask tho OP…do they not pay you to work there ?
If you work only for tips I could see your point…but if you’re getting a salary or paid by the hour you need to calm down and remember, a customer doesn’t have to tip.
Mandatory Tipping – Pleas refer to Item # 6 in “A general Bitch”.
I’d love to know where you (roll eyes) ‘work’, Mickey Dees perhaps?
Ya picked a sweatshop to work in (hopefully while going to school) and ya accepted the wage that was offered…..the management may have told ya that this wage did not include tips so you calculated in your feeble fucking head that instead of X dollars per hour you would make X+Y dollars cause the consumer will leave ya a tip – ya, okay — here’s a tip for ya, don’t count your chickens (or tips) before they hatch!
Woncha-fucking-lick-my-arse-now and I’ll tip ya a big fat wet one!
Let the Flaming ensue!
lol…Ah shit. I haven’t laughed that hard in awhile, OB, thanks!
So, lets say there is a guy who works in a record store..(sorry, music store.) He works hard to please you and provide you with a pleasant shopping experience. He answers your questions both pleasantly and professionally. He doesn’t pressure you into buying anything but yet makes himself available the minute you have any questions. He goes the above and beyond to find that CD that you have been looking for for months, and he does this by phoning around to the other music stores in the chain. He is only too happy to do this for you, the customer. Do you tip him? Better yet, does he expect a tip? No. For some reason, we (society) have it in our minds that we must tip wait staff or other like service workers like cabbies or hairdressers. But yet, here we have a guy who is providing a service and doing so incredibly well but, tipping him would not even be considered in about 99% of us. Why is that? I tip service industry personnel if the service they provide is warranted. But, you in absolutely NO WAY should be expecting it. Tipping is NOT MANDATORY, you self-entitled-asshat.
Oh, and BTW….if you have to “go out of your way to do your best”….then you’re not doing it right.
Tipping is not mandatory. If your service is subpar, don’t expect a tip.
All I have to say is if I ever went to a restaurant and had “something extra” added, the food safety inspectors would go hard on your establishment and I would make sure you weren’t in a position to expect tips again, you fucktard.
Hey Mr. Bundy – is that a loogie in your amuse bouche? Bon appetite!

Psssst…..just to be safe….I wouldn’t order the oysters…..just sayin’
If you want my change, why don’t you do something for it? And doing things like bringing me my food and drinks doesn’t count, as that is your job and is what you’re being paid to do by your employer. Come on, do a little dance or play an instrument or make me laugh like the bums on the street do if you want the extra cash. Servers are just glorified bums. Believe me, if I could just go to the kitchen and tell them my own order and such, I would. Taking an order, assuring food quality, getting refills, answering questions, and cleaning – all done in a very pleasant and professional manner – are all part of your job description. Please re-read it. Why should the customer pay you to do your job properly? That doesn’t even make sense. You sir/mam, are the cheap fuck here.
Good day.
Yet another good reason not to eat out – these self important fucks can see how many tips they get when they have _0_ customers, lol…
never order fish on a monday
When you start being grateful for the tips you do get, you may find that the universe starts rewarding you with more. If you’re providing service simply for the money then you’re service is disingenuous and people won’t feel that sense of being well taken care of no matter what you do for them. You can run your ass off for me but if I get the sense that you’re a self entitled little bitch while you’re doing it, I’ll be less inclined to dig deeper into my pockets.
Been there, done that. Some customers tip well, some moderately, others not at all. At the end of the shift it’s all relative. Suck it up OP. You think you are the only wait-person this has ever happened to? It’s been that way for-EV-er! Nothing you can do or say will change it because tipping is a voluntary choice made by the customer, not you. Accept that it is part of the job or move on. “Adding to the ingredients” speaks volumes about your integrity and none of it good. Buck up!
‘
Haha! I love how you are always spot on with sweet little advice tips sis-a-la-web!
avec plaisir mon soeur, slinging grub for over two decades has given me some insight
I just took a cab to Dartmouth. The driver was cool enough to see if I wanted a conversation, before starting one. We had a great conversation about a bunch of things. I went into the place in Dmouth that I buy my medical supplies(getting run over by a truck is sometimes messy! Lols). He waited for me for 10 minutes to do my thing, then helped me back in the car, drove md home to Wheelie Manor, then carried my 2 big bags of supplies upstairs for me.
When we got to the Manor I noticed he had paused the meter in Dartmouth. I left a bigger tip than usual. This guy went above and betond, in my eyes, and was genuinely surprised at the tip, asking “are you sure?”
I generally tip, because waiters tend to not make great hourly wages(yes I hear my Beloved Bitches protesting), and the places I go seem to have very good customer service, and make me feel welcomed.
Now, OP:
How darez you expects a tipz!!!!
Lols
They think they`re the customer, your entitled piece of shit. There`s a hell of a lot more minimum wage slaves out there that work harder than you who get crapall. Be grateful for the gift you receive, instead of whining like a spoiled brat over the one you don`t.
Fuck you you miserable bitch. I tip when i get decent service and judging from your horrific sense of entitlement, people probably just don’t like you.
Shut up and be thankful anybody would hire your miserable ass. I wouldn’t.
that’s really cool, Wheelie. It’s good to hear stories like that. Like I said, I have no problem with tipping if I feel it is warranted and deserved. Your cabbie DEFINATELY went above and beyond and the fact that he was humble enough to not expect a tip but rather be surprised, to the point of making sure it was what you wanted, that just makes it all the more deserving in my book. Hats off to you, Mr. Wheelie’s Cabbie!
OP, you forgot to mention the restaurant’s name in some obscure form. How will people leave you tips if they don’t know where you are? Plus your boss would love to receive a copy of this bitch. Fuck you and your lack of tips. Do you claim all 100% of your tips on your income tax? Unlikely. Maybe people will wake up and see how ungrateful servers are and stop tipping all together.
and you o.p., are another reason i hate eating at any restaurant.
Op, so basically you are saying there is no pride in your work, you only work hard to get tips.
Why is it that people here are more offended by the tip entitlement than the “extra” ingredients?
I was at this restaurant with a friend of mine during lunch once in Wolfville when I was at Acadia. The place was dead, but they clearly had 2-3 servers on. Anyway, we sat there and sat there and sat theeeeereeee for over 20 minutes with our menus at the end of the table, ready to order, but we got completely ignored, while the servers were chit chatting or scratching their arses or whatever.
Anyway, we left and left a ‘tip’ — a note on a napkin that read “here’s your TIP: you should probably pay attention to your ONLY CUSTOMERS in your establishment. Start with taking their order in under a half an hour. That’s usually how these things work.”
No wonder I loathe this place. (well that and their food sucks).
you irish pub pushing whore.
you may have a point about the service, since they get a lot of turnover what with students and all…..which is why I sit -every time- at the same table…so I know which waiter I’ll get (and NOT ditzy, oblivitron waitresses). The awesome, bald dude who’s been there for .. well since I started school there over a decade ago.
He knows what he’s doing and the food is excellent.
TIPS= To Ensure Prompt Service.
Good server=good tips
Poor server (like you)=poor tips.
I’m sure even you can understand that math.
Dumbass..go back to school and get a really job.
Pfft, I worked as a waitress for almost 8 years at almost every kind of resto you can imagine: family-owned Italian, snooty white-linen steakhouses, soul-sucking chain restaurants, etc. I learned never to count on getting a tip (although when you do your job properly you usually get one). If someone does stiff you, let it go & move on.
It’s one thing to complain & commiserate to your coworkers, but threatening to spit (or worse) in someone’s food is gross & pathetic.
In NS there is no server’s wage, which exists in other provinces & means that anyone who works in a job where they serve liquor makes about $1 less per hour than other minimum wage jobs. Here, you make the same amount as people who work in most retail stores, coffee shops, etc. Is your job really any more demanding than theirs? They also have to stand/run around all day & be nice/attentive to their customers. I don’t see anyone at Dynamite threatening to spit on the next shirt that I buy.
Excellent post, Caity!
Hay zed — the irish pub has just as much turnover, given your logic, and I’ve never ONCE had bad service there. It’s always been amazing, in fact, so you stfu!
