Tipped Off
To the waitress at a certain restaurant, I hope you get why I only left you a 5% tip. First, after you dropped off our food, we had to ASK for more coffee. Hello! It’s brunch…people like a refill when they get their food. Then, you didn’t bring any m

You are the reason people who work in the service industry hate dealing with the public. Do you ever stop to realize that maybe we worked a 12 hour day on friday and saturday so perhaps we may just be a LITTLE tired during fucking brunch! Sorry if your 4th coffee refill took a litttle long, sorry if it took me a little while to get to your table.Im sure I speak for all servers when I say keep your fucking 5% it’s obvious you need it more than I do. Actually do us a favour just stay away all together! You have been BURNCHED!
Hey Liss your attitude is the reason that people hate dealing with many who work in the service industry. Dropping food, forgetting coffee, then forgetting milk, and not bothering to actually talk to the client, all in one meal!, is not exactly something one can make easy excuses for. It’s a sign somone can’t do their job.And then they’re on here complaining about low tips. ARGH.Your job is to serve; if you can’t do it, find another fucking job.
Liss: you are the reason people don’t tip.
i hate it when servers have an attitude problem. Liss, have you ever heard the term “waitress” ?? if so, do you know what it means? You were hired to WAIT ON TABLES. fuck, get over yourself and do your damn job.
It’s refreshing to hear something from the customer side for once! I fully agree: shitty service deserves shitty tip. That being said I’ve always tipped well over 15% despite the fact that I am a poor student, even for poor service. But hey, I always figured it was good karma and these people work their butts off. After reading the 23723729879237 posts on here from servers whining and being completely vindictive over tips I am starting to reconsider my stance on tipping if the service is not up to par. But that point’s also been made a bajillion times, so I won’t go any further into it.I must say, I am sure the OP feels very threatened that they have now been “BURNCHED”…
Hey Liss: it’s not MY problem you had to work 2 twelve shifts and you’re tired. That’s your deal, not mine. I was tired as FUCK today at work, but I chugged through with a smile on my face because that’s what I”m paid to do. And I don’t get tips so go suck a big one.
Liss …Suck it up!! Have fun working for minimum wage cause with you attitude you won’t go far.

I waitressed for years. My two cents:All of your complaints are completely valid regarding service standards. The waitress should have anticipated your needs better. However, her errors seemed less severe than a ten percent decrease in her tip. You didn’t say how she responded to your requests. When you asked for coffee did she quickly bring it to you? That would have erased her mishap for me. As an ex-waitress I am very forgiving of technical errors. For me it is all about the attitude of the server! For example, at one establishment in Halifax, my server was clearly brand-new. My date and I ordered a bottle of wine. He opened it so painfully that I wanted to rip it away from him and open it myself! He ended up spilling red wine all over the table. However, he was so sweet and clearly nervous that I forgave all and tipped him well. I guess my point is that servers are people too, and I think that their attitudes and intentions should warrant some attention! (The OP didn’t mention their waitresses demeanor at all).
Liss: when I get bad service I do think about the fact that you might be tired or pregnant or hung over or lazy. But only long enough to realize your autobiography is not what I ordered.
Servers who make excuses for themselves are just trying to convince us that we should tip them well no matter what. You suck today, well its because you’re tired, oh ok, well I guess I should have come on a day when you weren’t tired, but that my fault so heres 15%. If everyone thought that way, and took every possible consideration and tipped just in case they’re having a bad day, all the genuinely bad servers out there would get tipped for doing a bad job. And like others have said, we all have bad days at work, I’m tired everytime I go to work because I have to get up at 6am. But if the guys who were filling your oil tank only filled it half way and then spilled a bunch on your lawn, would you forgive them and pay your normal rate because they were tired or stressed? Hell no. No one else gets a free ride on their stressful days, or because they’ve worked for the last few days, so why should servers?
Gee, serving is like rocket surgery. Honestly, how many people drink black coffee? How many people do not require condiments? Preparing for a serving job would be easy compared to some jobs. The same things are needed over and over again. A server should have all the bases covered with little to know effort. I am guessing that most servers are actually dumb as a post. Hence there position as a server.Of course, if one gets too much flak, continuous crappy service with a side of poor attitude, could just choose to eat somewhere else or eat at home. (Small towns with not many places to eat, this becomes a bit of a problem) Where would that leave the bitchy servers? This has been covered before in many other bitches, but still pisses me off. Grouchy Customer Service people (cashiers, basically). Where the fuck do they get off? They are there to serve. And if they can not do that with out being rude or bitchy, go-the-fuck home. I swear the next bitchy quiff that I have to deal with at some counter that excepts cash for goods, I am going to the manager, and if it happens to be the manager, I am going to their head office. Enough is enough, I am sick and fed up. Fucking ßitches. *Quiff is gender specific, but ßitch can be either gender.
