Tip for non-servers…
To all those who have never worked as a server: Please stop stacking your plates when you are done eating! We know that you are trying to help, but it doesn’t. Let us clear the plates, better for you, (much) better for us.

Seriously?I worked as a server – never minded people helping out by stacking the plates. If they were stacked precariously I would just simply re-stack…I appreciated the consideration.
I’m pretty sure the only time i’ve ever stacked for a server when I was trying to give them the hint that I’d like my bill so I can leave. I know talking about which waiter you jack hammered last night is probably the hot topic behind the bar, but really, (and this is not an attack on you, just food service in general) there is a serious lack of good service in this city. And no one place is consistantly bad. I really find I have to pay attention to who works where on what nights so I can schedule where I’ll go.So far…The old smoking side of the Shoe on Monday / Tuesday nights is fantastic. Kudos to the girls at the bar that are not only helpful, but not upitty at all.Boston Pizza in Sackville on Friday / Saturday nights on the sports bar side is very good. Try the Boston Cheesesteak with Cactus chips instead of fries, you’ll thank me later.Sunnyside in Bedford on Saturday / Sunday mornings.
See I do try to organize all my plates,glasswear, empties and so on when I go out to a place. I also worked in kitchen’s so I do make it in such a way that it’s a easy removal by my server, it’s a nicety and plus it does save the server some time. Speaking of clearing plates, this goes to the servers as well, when you take your dishwear back to the kitchen clear the junk off the dishes. Don’t leave food, napkins and so in with the dishes and walk away, show some respect to those who need to wash these things.I also have to agree with Carnate there are too many bad servers out there along with bartenders that don’t know how to make simple drinks like a bloody mary.Bad service is something that will make me never go back to a place more than bad food quality.
Yah I gotta agree with the first two comments. The only time I stack my dishes is when I have had enough time after eating to become bored. I AM one of those ones who used to be a server and I would be very slow to complain about ANYTHING that my customers did to help me, as so many customers are apt to act like you don’t even exist, even when you are trying to request their order.As for MY bitches about being a server, I could definitely go on for hours. People are disgusting!
I’ve been a server most of my life and i appreciate somone trying to help, I always stack my dishes for server, but i do it right
