I hate every effing asswipe on kijiji selling tickets at inflated prices for any event they can think of! This is absurd!!!! If you didnt want tickets then you should have kept your damn money. Ripping people off is fucking stupid!

They interviewed a scalper a coupla concerts ago bemoaning the fact that he was going to lose money on his tickets.

I think it is high time that anti-scalping laws are implemented here, sure some loose money but they are still becoming a prevalent issue here and it is not capitalism, it’s consumer predation and market abuse. Time for the city to make money of these assholes, through FINES.
Obviously people are buying from scalpers and providing consumers for them or there wouldn’t be a business for them.
Supply and demand, if people want to pay 3 times face value for an event that isn’t sold out then let em. No one is forcing these people to go to a concert.
Perhaps he has good tickets and that section is all sold out. Are you going to say that if you had tickets and ended up unable to attend, you would sell the ticket for less than someone was willing to pay?

if you can nail awesome seats for 100 bucks and someone is willing to spend 200 for them, why wouldn’t you sell them?!?!?! oh, no, that’s ok. I just want what I paid for them.

if you want to go to the stp concert, then buy from the remaining, crappy seats and be done with it. you missed the presale pass and opening day for sale, then face it, you’re paying more for decent seats because you were lazy or you’re gonna be sitting your ass near the back. period.
If you don’t like how much they’re selling the tickets for then it’s simple: don’t buy them.
Most concerts these days will have a limit on how many ticket you can buy. So it’s not like they’re buying ALL the tickets and selling them for 10x their face value.
People are willing to pay for the tickets THAT’S why these people buy and sell them at higher prices. Perhaps we should target the assfucks who’ll pay 10x the price to go see a concert…however, there are a few acts I’d pay 10x the face value to see so…
for example… I have some wicked seats to multiple events coming up.
side stage for slayer, 2nd row for Dane Cook, 2nd Row for Copperfield… the list goes on.
I’d love to go to all those shows… though I may just put them up on kijiji to see what I can get for them. Make no mistake (and I’ve seen tickets already go for this), if I can get twice the ticket price * 2 tickets, I’d be a fool not to sell them to someone (who used to be me never getting early enough and having to shell out a fortune) who wants good seats really bad.
and if the price ain’t right, then I’ll just go and enjoy myself.

Jesus Christ! If you don’t like the price then don’t buy the tickets. What do you care if some random person is stupid enough to buy an overpriced ticket? That’s between them and the seller, it’s none of your business. People are stupid enough to buy all the other overpriced crap on kajiji. Do you shit yourself everytime something is sold for double its value? God forbid people make a profit.
Fizz, the obvious problem here is that scalpers buy up a shit load of tickets with the sole intention of reselling them at a higher price. This makes it not fair to the event goer who may want a great seat but can’t because these asshats, who have no intention on attending the event, get a lot of the prime seats. If you don’t think this is a problem, then you’re all a bunch of fucking idiots. There’s a goddam reason it’s illegal to scalp tickets on the street and it should also be made illegal online.
In bigger cities you have ticket brokers using sophisticated software to buy up most of the good seats as soon as they go on sale online. Some of these places are owned by the original sellers of the tickets. That is a racket. They should have it so for the 1st 24 hrs you can’t buy online and a limit four tickets / purchase. That way the fans who want the tickets the most get them at a fair price.

Sometimes it comes back to bite them. There was a scalper trying to sell Manson tickets the night of the show outside the Metro Centre, for fifty bucks. That’s at a loss to the original selling price. I had a good laugh. The show was only half sold, so there was no market for this guy’s tickets.

I didn’t go out and buy up 10 tickets with the presales and sell em all off. I got two tickets, just what I needed.
And for everyone else, there’s a fucking reason you even know these people’s names. They’re good enough at what they do to be fucking known for it. Obviously people like it and so yes, I’m one of them. you may shudder at my picks, but I likely wouldn’t be caught dead at some of the concerts you’d like to attend.
scalping tickets is actually a crime, and you can get jail time or fine for it. i just love it when they buy a bunch, then lose all that money, and can’t even give them away, at the last minute. suckers.

if you want the tickets, then buy them WHEN they go on sale like everyone else. If a person wants the tickets bad enough, they’ll be logged on to Ticketatlantic at the time the tickets go on sale, because you know damn well that’s what everyone else (scalpers included) are doing.
