You received a graduated ticket meaning the fine was based on your speed. If you weren’t a maniac, you’d still have your $410, right?!
Driving at a speed to generate a $410 ticket is absolutely ridiculous. You bitch is bullshit. And slow the fuck down.

Penalties for a regular speeding ticket (first offence) are:
$233.95 fine and 2 points if you are 1-15 km/hour over the limit;
$291.45 fine and 3 points if you are 16-30 km/hour over the limit; and
$406.45 fine and 4 points if you are 31 km/hour or more over the limit.

Driving at more than 30km/h over the speed limit could only be described as intentional and reckless. Makes me wonder if the insurance companies consider this type of driver to be a high risk and jack up their premium.
Obviously if the ticket was 75% of his entire annual income, we would all be sympathetic.

Let me leave you with a thought. When a person’s income is 30k or even 60k with a family, then 1k can hurt, perhaps even set a person into a spiral that can take months to recover from. Are you so closed minded to reject the notion that $410 might be marginally high as well?
Just show up for your court date, plead “not guilty” and get a trial date. Try and get your trial date for the middle of the summer and chances are the cop will be golfing or on vacation, so you get off Scott free. FTP!!!

Speed limits are set intentionally low so cops can use “speeding” as a revenue stream, and most limits have not been changed since the 60’s despite technological advances in braking control, suspension improvements, tire/traction improvements, etc…. 30k over the speed limit is not really that much over the limit, and I find it hard, without the use of cruise control, to keep my brand new vehicle below 130-140k on a highway if I’m not paying close attention, and often find myself doing 20-30k over the limit in low speed limits like 50-60k. Not because I’m an asshole, it’s just hard to judge your speed with newer vehicles. I just don’t feel the speed like I used to in older vehicles. Some people drive like assholes, to drive like assholes, and some people make mistakes and get caught. Either way I’m not going to act like some fart sniffing, douchebag and over react. I remember being a teen when my dad bought a brand new K-car, let me tell you, when you were doing 120-130k in that baby, you fucking knew it. It doesn’t really matter to me what your opinion is, I just think it’s funny as fuck that you feel you can lash out like a keyboard warrior.
