Another day at the car lot. Have to be very well prepared for that psychological battlefield.
Easiest car purchase I ever made was this past January, my daughter works for one of the auto groups and gets REAL employee pricing. No dickering, buddy doesn’t want to be your friend all the sales bullshit. They show you all the paperwork, reach an agreement on trade in price and off you go, even get employee prices on warranty and undercoating etc. this is where the dealerships make their $$.

I bought a 4 year old car last year from one of the dealerships and they were okay on the selling price of the car but didn’t offer much on the trade-in. In fact, I was surprised how interested they were in the history of my ten year old trade-in. And the weird “finance” guy tried to sell me undercoating, upholstery finishing, financing, etc. that would have added $$$$ to the cost of the car. Afterwards I did some research and found out that with the Internet everyone knows the approximate fair value of a new or recent model car so the dealers’ opportunities to make scads of money are on financing, the trade-in vehicle, and the various treatments. Caveat emptor!

All wheel drive is for shmucks with too much money. And nobody needs a car with anything more than a two cylinder, two stroke engine. Won’t go fast but gets you from here to almost there.
