Like seriously, there’s no work. And when you get it, you can be paid a measly $10.60 an hour. Like, I can barely cover rent and groceries on that—let alone, you know, clothes and cover to get in a bar on your friend’s birthday. And the managers who work at these places will literally fire you if you breathe the wrong way, because there are 12 people lined up who will happily direct their breath elsewhere. I’m so fucking sick of being 1,000 percent replaceable. Like, damn it NS, are you trying to drive everyone out? Let’s GO HARPER while you still have a chance to make us not completely hate you. Just do SOMETHING to help us out down here. Like some god damn workers’ rights? Help??? PLEASE??? —Young and Bitter

Move.
No work? $10.60/hr? Blame all levels of gov’t? Ever give a thought it may be your own poor life choices that are limiting your opportunities? Nah, everyone else is to blame but yourself.
The obvious answer is that you need more education and training to make yourself more valuable and less replaceable.
You should have stayed in school.

Nova Scotia has the second-highest minimum wage in Canada and among the lowest tax brackets for low-income workers. (Our higher taxes kick in at higher income levels.)
So you can move, but you’ll be in the same shitty boat. Figure out a way to get yourself out of minimum-wage purgatory and maybe life will improve.
Wow – you know you are getting desperate when you are appealing to Stephen Harper for workers rights…
ya, no kidding.
I’ve never wanted an assassination on a world leader any more than that idiot.
Damn Cons keep voting for the jerk.
Wrong Stephen, what a muppet.
rolls eyes wonder how many of these above minimum wage workers make like 18 dollars a hr and think their the shit, get back in your financed brand new economy car and go back to your “Brand New” “Mini Home” Congrats on the one year NSCC course… Meanwhile half of the store I work in has people with degrees and 40k of debt.. Yes you wipe butts at the nursing home or fix cars, WOW… people did that in the 80s with no school…. Get off your high horse, your not that amazing… Nova Scotia has a job problem, Oh wait all of the potential employees are “uneducated” or unskilled or its all their fault they chose to go to University for something with limited Job prospects, Canadian University’s are for profit businesses, Of course their not going to tell people their not gonna get a job! And for the record my dad never went to University/Community College, All of the other people at his job have degrees in engineering, and he is far more intelligent then half of the “educated” people I know who are only good at what school taught them to be good at.
