It’s true…Despite all the window-dressing of ‘public consultations’ the government made up its mind months ago to raise the HST to 15%! In light of the expenses scandal, hopefully, Nova Scotians won’t stand for this nonsense. We’re already the second-highest taxed citizens in Canada and an HST tax will only hurt the poor and middle-class!!

  1. Please, oh fucking please, shut the hell up.

Harper’s decision to decrease the federal portion of the HST (GST) was short-sighted at best. Also, it will not significantly increase your cost. 3 bucks for every 100. not a big deal.

  2. I agree Smee. Our government will be as crooked and corrupt as we let them. We get the government we deserve.

  3. Ooh, sign an online petition and join a Facebook group. Yeah, that’ll scare the government into changing their mind…

  4. Had too chuckle at that.

Their greatest threat is the internet. A forum for the free distribution of thoughts and information. Enjoy it while you can people.

If it’s not next, it’s soon, internet 2.

    A homogenized, corporate surfing experience

You may need a 2nd computer for that, and an ID.

  5. What the fuck is a facebook group going to do about it?

Make you feel like you’re doing something without actually have to put time, effort, and thought into it?

Show all your “friends” how “involved” you are with current issues?

    Jesus Christ…

  6. same with an online petition…
    useless for anything meaningful.

still, I do rather like 13% and don’t really want more fucking taxes….
if harper hikes his back up, we’ll be up to 17%.
no doubt that would blow goats.
