to the dumb assholes parading around this town with posters proclaiming “there probably is/isn’t a god, now stop worrying and live your life” fuck off, i don’t really care what your ideal systems are, and i’m not forcing mine on you, but i sure as hell feel like it now. maybe some “there probably isn’t a point to this arguement” signs are in order.

HOLY SHIT, someone told you not to worry about metaphysical issues and live you life as you see fit.
HOW FUCKING DARE THEY IMPOSE
Hey Jesus! Why don’t you turn their water into wine? That’ll shut ’em up!
But its ok when religious stuff gets shoved down our throats.
They’re allowed to carry signs showing their beliefs, just as you are to go around town and hand out Bibles. They aren’t shoving it down our throats per se, but they’re exercising free speech. If they get in your way and get aggressive about it, that crosses the line between free speech and harassment. Otherwise, turn your head. You don’t have to listen.
I agreed with Metro Transit not allowing the ads, but in no way does this not allow this group to express their platform in other public forums. That’s we live in a free country.
When Edith and I were able, we’d go down to Saint’s Paul’s Basilica on Spring Street, and fire-and-brimstone Reverend Murphy had us fairly convinced that come hell or highwater, God would show us the truth, though a sign, or a gift, or, dear lord, another addition to our lovely large family. Go forth and multiply, as the good book says. Luckily, I left school at 11 years old, so my multiplication tables weren’t good for much more than three times three.
There is very much a point to the argument, our morals and our “soul” or as I like to call it, our brain, is being under minded by religious ideologies. It’s not to say there shouldn’t be religion, it’s to say religion should not be playing a role in modern science and technologies.
I don’t entirely agree with the method they use, a little less preach (and merchandise), a little more education would be better. Rent out spaces and have talks with pie and coffee, discuss the issues with people interested in learning.
Back before Barrington was a barren waste, Edith and I often enjoyed the preacher who read scripture while we rode the trolley to the Nova Scotian Hotel. His proletyzing turned us from temptations to come when we cut a rug in the grand ballroom. Such a shamfizzle over advertizments. Back in my day, we knew we could avoid all temptation from peddlers and snake-oil salesmen by just closing our eyes, or slamming the door.
As a non religious person in Nova Scotia, I’ve had Christianity literally shoved down my throat for my whole life. When all the other kids at school had religion class, myself and a few others were segregated to go to “values class” otherwise known as mindless busy work… The Catholic church, (which for one example, teaches that women are worth less and are supposed to be subservient to a man?), still has a say in schools and government in this province. My point being, that it’s kind of a double standard to allow churches to advertise and not the un-churches… Stop the religious ads too. People will save themselves, or not.
Stop wearing your cross when you come to my workplace. You offend me by showing me your beliefs. You’re not allowed them because they disagree with me, and I’m very offended that you choose to wear a cross.
[/sarcasm]
It was a long time ago, but we used to hide our love of the lord by snapping off the horizontal arms of our crosses. “No, we’re just fans of gold sticks,” we’d tell these naysayers and bottle-brushers. “Just Goldies. No crossies here, lads. Good day to you.”
BSB where the hell did you go to school? I went through public education in the South Shore, the only time you heard about God was from the kids who went to Sunday School at their church.
In ontario when I was in K-4 there were always these kids who stood out in the hall when o canada or the lord’s prayer was done.
Your writing of this bitch is the same as their signs. If you really were sincere about not sharing your opinion and ideology you’d keep your views entirely to your self. The only difference is the medium you chose. Your decision to complain on the internet and remain anonymous disconnects the opinion from you, but it is still an opinion you are sharing.
You and they are probably a lot alike, so stop complaining and enjoy the signs they made.
