So why is there a security guard on Spring Garden Road being friends with the homeless people there instead of doing their jobs; getting rid of them. I have many friends who live in the area and more who work there, and the situation is getting worse. People who work in the area are being harrassed and assaulted, with a security guard standing a few feet away from what going on, and luaghing about it. I can accept if people are down on their luck, come from a bad place, have issues that make normal society difficult, but harrassing and assaulting people is plain wrong. And letting people get away with it is even worse. Being a security guard is dangerous work, but if your not ready to take on the dangers of a job, you shouldn’t even apply.

I’d just love for a wanna-be-cop to try and tell me anything while on a public sidewalk. They have as much authority in the public domain as you and I do as citizens. Imagine gettin’ $9/hr to do the job of our police force. Pffft! If you witnessed an assault and there was actually a victim why didn’t YOU call the cops on the victim’s behalf? What if I gave you $9, dressed you up in a pretty little suit and stuck a dollar store badge on the front, would you make the call then or would it still be somebody else’s problem (and your bitch)?
actually Kay I believe the security guards along SGR are actually paid for by the Business Improvement Area tax that property owners pay on their tax bills. They have every right to ask a person to move along (ie. loitering is still illegal, as is blocking the sidewalk) and if you refuse they can simply call the cops. Just make sure you aren’t standing on the owner’s portion of the sidewalk when you decide to cry thats its public property as some of the land around there extends into the sidewalk. The city needs to deal with the bums on SGR and Barrington St. Nothing worse than being asked for change every 20 feet or trying to get around their pile of crap in places where they plunk their lazy asses down.

wow – one touch of the submit button and I get two posts. Is there a prize or something that I should know about?
Excellent post there sick… Thanks… And that’s a fine first comment to open up the discussion kay… Great job…I’ve always wanted to be a wanne-be-cop… Not an actual cop, just a wanna-be-cop… That’s what I want to be…It would be great… Absolutely no authority, but a slightly too large uniform, a shiny badge, and a little something for my trouble at the end of the week…I’d be out there on Spring Garden ROAD (Robert!!!!), swinging my baton, wiinking at the girls on the corner… All puffy chested and feeling big… Yes gals like kay just LOVE a man in uniform… Gonna git lucky to-nite!!!And yes I WOULD take time to get to know the little people, the down on their luck, maybe even treat them to a cheeseburger and a Coke… Just being plain nice… People on the the sidewalks, would be like “Hows it going Floyd” or “What are you saying Floyd” and I’d be all “Right back atcha” or “Just heppin out where I can”
uh, Floyd, what’s your point? Do you type for the sake of typing? Post for the sake of posting? Why don’t you offer something useful or combative. Your drivel is a little hard to take. The most a wanna-be-cop on a sidewalk can do is call the cops, right! If the OP is so bothered then why don’t they call the cops themselves? I’ll take a stab at why. Because nobody is hurting anybody and the downtown snobs are uncomfortable saying no when asked for spare change. Whaaa, need some cheese too?The OP is flinging around the term ‘assault’ likely because one of them touched her pretty silk skirt and left a smudge while begging her for change and then told her to get fucked when she didn’t give in despite her pocket full of change and size 49 waistline. Homelessness and the begging that goes along with it produces a nuisance, not a crime. I’ll say the same about this as I did on the squeegee kids thing. STOP giving them money, buying them meals, etc and they’ll move on when they see their market has dried up. If you can’t do that then the majority of the snobs out there can just go make another fucking bylaw, like the world needs more of them.Get over yourselves.
Jeez kay, lighten up a little, just trying to be nice… you know maybe make some new friends… heck… why not… why not kay?..why can’t we all just get along???
Why can’t you think of something relevant before hitting the submit button?
No no kay dont get me wrong,,, I am AGREEING with you… Everything you are saying is bang on… I’m on your side on this one… Hey remember whose idea it was for you and desi to hook up in the first place… Yeah yeah, how soon we forget… Gratitude??? No no thanks really… I’m just doing my part to make your world a little bit better….
…and funnier, Floyd, deffinately funnier!
Being a public nuisance, is at least a violation of some bylaw, but there should be a law against it. One should be able to walk down the street without being accosted or annoyed by some dirty vagrant/begger. They are like telemarketers but worse, because they are in your face. Same situation, if I want to buy a product I’ll go shopping and buy it. If I want to give charity I will seek out the organization and donate. The security guards and/or the Police should get rid of the people that are begging. The security guy, well he should not piss these begging bums off, I am sure a few of them are about to snap. He would end up injured, I am sure. Security guards do not seem to be mentally or physically prepared.
Actually Kay, you are going completely in the wrong direction about this post, I should know because I am the posters girlfriend, and no he doesn’t wear a pretty silk skirt and have a 49 inch waist, nor do I.The post is in regards to one particular security guard who hangs out with a certain group who are not so much homeless, but the lazy junkies who DO harass and assault the fine folks that work and live in the area, and those words are most certainly not being flung around, because my workplace alone has at least 2 dozen police reports against them, including physical assault when one knocked out a co-worker of mine, simply because he asked them to stop harassing his fellow co-workers, who earlier that day had one of these punks shove his HEAD in one of the female employees crotch, and then threw a cup of hot tea at a pregnant employee afterwards who was just walking by and didn’t say one damn thing! and then the “guard” stood by and did nothing.. but moments later told two business woman to move along because they lit their cigarette less then 15 meters away from the entrance of the building they work in.That same idiot guard stood by and laughed while those punk junkies he calls “friends” threw pennies and nickels at people walking by.And now another one of those punks is harassing another woman who works in that area because she finally got fed up and yelled “NO!” at him because his constant following her around asking him to buy him supper because she made the mistake of buying him a burger once while he was crumpled on the sidewalk begging for food looking like he got a really bad hit and could really use a bite. And as for the so called security guard who hangs out with them but bugs the actual residents and workers there, he can eat a bag of dicks, and share it with his junkie pals when they get hungry again…or he could of course wait until they turn on him and eat him alive.
look what i see floyd and kay arguingthanks floyd for the road thing im surekay will understand
You’ve listed about 15 reasons why YOU should call the cops. Whiner.
I want to know how jerkosgirl could have posted at 1:38 PM when I’m responding to her post in the AM on the same day.Love the way we bitch especially when the thread gets all messed up because the admin on this site doesn’t know what a datetime is *sigh*
Here’s an idea… how about you stop bitching here and call the security company to complain about this guard not doing his job.
And another thing, I certainly hope that the OP’s catchy headline is reflective of the actual company who is providing these guards because if it isn’t and he is just trying to be witty then he’s defaming a very respected and legitimate company.
