WAR SHIPS, just what we need. If you make it, they/it will come.
Here we are in the hospital trying to figure out ways to cut costs since the Feds cut our budget by 3% while they give 25 billion to Irving to build WAR ships. What is wrong with this picture and an NDP government to boot. I don’t know people. —One Big Can O’ Worms

  1. Warships for a nation with 3 very long coastlines doesn’t seem all that absurd.
Has anyone ever proven that quality of health care rises proportionately with the C.U.P.E pension fund?
    Just sayin’

  2. You gotta create jobs somehow. This will boost the economy and hopefully places like hospitals schools and infrastructure. This brings a lot of money to this province and I’m all for it, even though I don’t support cutting funds for schools or hospitals. The more people here making good money and paying taxes the better off we’ll all be.

  3. Uhhh you want money? This is exactly what the ship building will do you TARD. It will benefit all of the Nova Scotian economy. Can you really not connect the dots here? Thank goodness you’re not in charge of anything important. I hope.

  4. Dexter cut the 3% not the feds. I am surprised you have any job in a hospital if you get the simple stuff wrong.
Is CUPE lying to you – quite possibly.

  5. HAHAHA the first of the shipbuilding bitches! YAY!

LIke I said, people around here could bitch about winning the lottery ffs.

Lemmie break it down for ya, you twit:

shipbuilding contract = jobs = tax revenue = more money for hospitals and shit.

Read that sllllloooooowwwwwwlllllyyyyy as many times as necessary to get that through ur noggin, ya idiot.

  6. The DND budget is a federal expenditure, why are you blaming the NDP? They are only involved at a provincial level.

  7. OB, I totally agree. Why waste money on warships, military etc. when we never have anyone attacking us, yet Canadians wait forever in hospitals. Those military families ‘claim’ our safety is in peril and these ships are needed. What bullshit.

Those “If you don’t support the troops, feel free to stand in front of them” bumper stickers make me laugh. Maybe they can use the ships to bomb the seals? We know that the military and Coast Guard don’t do shit when it comes to illegals arriving in our waters on boats…..maybe they can open fire on them and sink them from now on.

  8. Fuck if it brings money into this province I don’t care if we’re building warships or assembling plutonium triggers with our bare fuckin’ hands. As long as I don’t get drafted into the fuckin’ military that is. I got too much goin’ on with my life to throw it away in some shithole or drowning in one of those leaky fuckin’ coffins they call submarines.

I also think coal mining’s a good gig as long as I don’t have to fuckin’ do it.

  9. the taxes they’ll collect off this deal is going to be a nice breather for a bit…
though I wonder if there’s going to be a ‘sudden’ influx of abandoners coming back from out west in Crapberta.

  10. Just think of all those sailors and semen, er sea men, coming into port though, sebastian. A lot of married men for you to think are gay and hit on when the wife isn’t looking.

  11. Yeah, fuck War Ships! They should build Peace Ships!
Fucking dumbass. The military is a country’s expression of sovereignity.
    Dipshit.

  12. “Why waste money on warships, military etc. when we never have anyone attacking us, yet Canadians wait forever in hospitals.”

I don’t think digging jars of jelly out of your arse, sebastard, is typically high priority.

That’s why you probably have to wait so long.

  13. if it doesn’t directly affect you, let it go. there people here that need jobs, and this will help our very poor sagging econemy a lot, over the next few yes. just like winning a lottery it was said, so true. but a lot more than a few get feedback from it.

  14. Honestly, the first thing we get handed from a government that bailed out auto giants and banks, subsidize oilfield exploration and infrastructure in every province but ours??? Really?? You’re complaining, these ships were going to be built anyway, wouldn’t you rather see them built by canadians, not some slave labour third world country. Better yet, built by skilled labour in our own province. Why don’t you go weave yourself some hemp rope to hang yourself with, hippie scum!!!

  15. It’s better to have them and not need them than not have them and need them. BTW we are not isolationists. Isolationism doesn’t work. We are a part of the UN and NATO and allied with many many nations.

  16. Its not just a single project to build a bunch of ships. This will build a talent pool of workers that will generate spin off opportunities for decades.

  17. Having a military with proper equipment is like having insurance on your house or your life. You sure as hell hope you won’t ever need it, but you want it there when you do need it!

In the meantime the military does a lot of good things: humanitarian aid to war torn or disaster striken areas/ countries; search and rescues, etc.

  18. “In the meantime the military does a lot of good things: humanitarian aid to war torn or disaster striken areas/ countries; search and rescues, etc. “

What war torn and disaster stricken areas are you referring to?

  19. Yes, because our Navy is known for shelling the shit out of everyone. None of that escorting pirate-targeted convoys or aiding disaster stricken developing countries or support missions for revolutions against totalitarian regimes, or anything. Nope, they just sail around and blow crap up.
