Every night around supper time I get the same call: “Hello, we are calling about your credit card. Although there is not a problem with the interest rate you are currently paying…” When I press the 1 button to talk to the call centre flunky I get cut off….I am getting sick of this harrassment. I am putting my name on the do not call list….so you fockers better not call me no more! And if I do manage to actually talk to one of you….get ready for an earfull.

i just spent 80 dollars on a new corded phone (panasonic)..now get this:if they get through, i can put them on hold with music of my choice…they dont hang around..calls are way down, it detects if the call is coming from an extension number..now hit menu, set that up and the odd one still comes through, but it’s way, way down.
I understand it is fustrating but being on that other line making the calls isnt peoples choice either! Call centers get paid so well it is hard to leave and its real shitty being the one calling.p.s the more pissed and aggressive you get with these reps the more and more they will call you and harass you more just be plesent and say sorry no thanks or dont answer the phone
Or you can try my tactic and tell them right off the bat to go fuck themselves, and don’t call my god damned house again. Works for me I think because they certainly didn’t expect that reaction and they also might think that I’m 1 serious nut job, and who really wants to talk to a nut job on the tele.
Burning Man, I like your style on the coast… Of course the good news is that the National Do Not Call Registry and laws comes into effect today, I think… I sure as hell am going to sign up for that…BTW are you the same guy as on the cover of Wish You Were Here… you know.. that album by Pink
Floyd, Pink, a color, a band, cotton candy? All jokes aside, I’m just a local with unique ideas. Some work, some don’t
Sorry Guy, I thought this might have been you…http://iadtmusicappreciation.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/cover.jpg
While its annoying, I really don’t think telling a single mother off who may be only able to get a call center job is the answer.
As someone who works in a call center, here you go:1) The Do Not Call registry applies only to telemarketers, so when you guys scream at me that you’re on the no-call list, it doesn’t matter. I’m not selling anything, if I’m just doing a survey or calling on behalf of a company you’re with, the do not call list does not apply. 2) If you hang up on me before I can explain what I’m calling about, I have to (as in, it is my job) to put you on a call-back list. If you hear me out and politely decline then you will not be called back. But if you hang up on me right away, we have to assume you think we are telemarketers and keep on calling back.3) When you scream at me or swear at me, that ruins my night. Absolutely ruins my night. I got a job at a call center because I’m having trouble dealing with how rude people are in my typical retail job, and then you guys think the anonymity of the phone gives you the right to harass me? I had some guy sexually harass me beyond anything that would ever be mildly acceptable and it fucked me up for a week. I’m doing my job! I completely understand if you don’t feel like it, but just politely decline. There are some people at call centers who will push and push and I understand that, but deal with that on a case-by-case basis. If I’m polite and don’t push (which I am) just say no thank you, I will tell you to have a great day, the end. If someone is pushing, then hang up the phone. But give me a chance first before you tell me I’m the lowest scum who has ever walked the earth.
I use to work in a call center, and believe me you get a lot further with me by being polite. If you are rude to me there are tricks to get back at you.
