When people said “do you think you’ll ever settle down?” I said “Me? Are you nuts!? Nobody could handle me! Ha Ha!” and left it at that. Never once did I say ANYTHING negative about marriage – ESPECIALLY to my engaged friends buzzing with the anticipation of a (hopefully) happy ever after.

But now that I finally found the “perfect” (for me) mate, all you assholes have to say is “What are you, stupid? Why would you get married?” or “I’d NEVER get married, I think it’s a stupid thing to do.”

Well, maybe it is, for YOU, but for my partner and I, it’s the RIGHT thing to do, and you can all go be fucking assholes somewhere else.

I am SO sick of hearing how “stupid” marriage is from people who are a) SUPPOSED to be my friends or b) I was poilite enough to NOT say this kind of bullshit to when they were being “stupid”.

Where the fuck is your head? If you think I’m a idiot to get married, I don’t want to know, I have more than enough things on my mind without stressing out that my so-called friends are fucktards who clearly don’t give a shit about my feelings.—Maybe the S in RSVP stands for “SO NOT INVITED”

  1. If you’re so stressed then why did you bother to write this? I’m sure it didn’t help.

  2. you fucking tell em bud. if you and your mate to be are happy, fuck them all. when i first got hitched, friends said the same to me and her, she put a few back a few steps, and i settled the rest. came the big day, their tunes had changed, and we got the best stuff from them as wedding gifts. hopefully this will also happen to you. if not, don’t sweat it, they weren’t that good friends anyway, and you have a brand new road to travel, now with a helpmate, not ever a wife, remember that one, helpmate.

  3. Maybe these people who you didn’t say anything bad about marriage to who were getting married are just trying to save you some grief 😛

Just tell ’em to go fuck themselves. Shit, I think marriage is a crock, but it’s not like anyone’s going to listen when they’re dead set on doing something, so why bother? People need to make their own mistakes. If we never made our own mistakes we’d never learn a damn thing.

  4. You shouldn’t need to look for validation on a website if you were 100% sure – you might want to put a bit more thought into it.
I personally don’t believe in marriage because A) I’m not religious B) I don’t think people need to sign a piece of paper to prove their commitment.
BUT if marriage is good for you (and you’re 100% sure), then congratulations! I have been to many weddings and am always genuinely happy for them… the divorce parties have that extra punch though. heheh. Nothing like a bitter reckless drunk to add excitement to the night.

  5. If you’re sure, and your mate is sure, then fuck the rest of them, they’ll be there on your wedding day and be happy for you. Do they like your mate?

  6. When I was getting married a lot of rude people would say things like this. It really is uncalled for! People really need to think before they speak.

  7. everyone was all super psyched when we announced the marriage….
it was certainly a long time coming.

the divorce announcement however… was pretty tragic.
fucking facebook made the phones light up some fast.

there are tax benefits to marriage though….
just do what you know is right for you and everything else will work itself out.

  8. yeah… it is what it is.
time to learn and grow. at least I won’t be taken to the cleaners.
she really is better than that. hurts but I’m in a good place.

I think I slept for 8 hours last week… pretty crazy. lost over 20 lbs too… extreme dieting…. barely remember the days…
started sleeping and eating again though so good times are ahead.
jonnoman helped an awful lot… we’re gonna be roommates come May so we’ll have to hold a housewarming or something….

  9. well, hopefully coming here helps. it certainly does wonders for my fragile psyche
