Why is the news so depressing? Why can they never put on a nice happy story? It’s always death and robberies and missing people. I hate it and it depresses the shit out of me. —Chaos57

Me too:) I actually read somewhere that it’s healthy to take at least one day news free. It’d be cool if there was a show just about good news, I’d totally watch that:)
thanks naveed
I want me a lion hug!
OB, bad news sells. No one cares about the happy fluffy puppy stories, or the pussy in a tree rescued by Brindi. Although everything in the news lately has been about stupid warships and a missing person.
So stop watching the news.. can’t take the heat get out the kitchen. It’s a cold world.. You’re just figuring this out now?
i love the heat from kitchens
If it bothers you that much watch something funny after.
instead of watching the news, google “Schmoyoho”
At least they auto-tune the news.
The news is sponsored by companies with products to sell. Depression can lead to reckless spending. Need I say more?
Happy Kombacha –
I have thought the same thing so many times!!!
In between the doom & gloom, I read Cracked.com for a little pick-me-up. Usually works.
would you like some good news o.p., it is only one more day, to your insanity. oh, and by the by, this was dated yesterday, too bad, have a nice trip to nuthouse.
Journalists are supposed to report on things that have an impact on the public. Their job is to keep us informed and up to date on things that will affect aspects of our life and our community like our health and well-being, our bank accounts, etc… The reason why it’s predominantly bad news is because those are the things we need to know about in order to keep ourselves safe, alive, and well. If there’s a murder in our community, we should know it. If there was a car accident, we need to know why, so we can protect ourselves from the same fate… It’s a courtesy, really.
Journalists and news outlets get such a bad rep “All they care about is bad news.” …The truth is, journalists hate reporting bad news. It’s not a fun job… We like hearing about the bad news because it affects us and that’s why they do it for us.
making even the worst news still enjoyable to hear….

Me, too, Painey, and if you use the proxy, you can watch it the next day instead of 2 or 3 days later (if you watch it on your computer like I do)

Let me guess, first year Sociology student?
eztv makes it cake …

the clinton interview was excellent and colbert….
he’s just damn hilarious.
they sure beat the hell out of the other talk show loser hosts. except for mr carson and he be dead
I’ve often felt exactly the way you do. We’re bombarded with Negativity every day and wears away at you till you can’t take it anymore. I stopped watching the news and reading certain newspapers all together. I get my news from various places on the internet, then I pick and choose which stories interest me. However, I don’t let that be an excuse to be ignorant of what’s happening in the world. Sometimes, we need to know what’s going on out there … but not every moment of every day! It’s totally depressing!
Yeah, I know what you mean though…I’ve let my Newsweek subscription lapse since that publicity whore Tina Brown took over…
OB – Check out “Christian the Lion”, it’s my fav feel good story.
This looks like a heartwarming family comedy – just in time for Christmas
