I’ll post this link so you know what I’m talking about first.

I feel that I have to say WTF???

What does Westboro hope to prove by this? That they’re all ignorant asshats? Mostpeople already hate you and wish that you would die.

They mentioned that the church has about 70 members and they’re all pretty much extended family. Possible inbreeding going on here?

Extremists likethis needto be lined up and shot. Let the family of Tim McLean mourn their loss as they wish. They dont need you there shouting things at them.

This was not an act of god, no m,atter what you say. It was the result of a severely depressed man who is now going to payfor what he did. In mymind, you’re all no better than him, as you do condone what he did in the name of your god.

I don’t know where you guys get your ideas from, but you most certainly need to be put in a straight jacket in a padded room with the people in the white coats to think about this.

Fuck off and die

Seriously Disturbed by Extremists

  1. Sorry, just to clarify, my “I doubt that” was refering to the idea that PETA would issue an apology.

  2. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS I’ve been reading about that wacko church for years now. They are the most hateful bunch of inbred trash.

  3. @Milesyes, i have seen PETA’s ads, many of which are intentionally provocative (how else do you appeal to people’s short attention spans in today’s saturated media environment, which is polluted with pop culture garbage?)in their defense, many of their ads show ACTUAL (hidden) video of what happens to the animals being slaughtered. but that’s not so much the point i’m making, it’s that they went TOO FAR this time.i’m all in favour of using provocation & protest to draw attention to important issues and causes, BUT there are limits, what PETA did with the Tim McLean ad was done in extremely poor taste, and showed no respect for the family/friends of the victim, nor the public.

  4. @Zac,inbred trash indeed, Westboro’s favourite victims are the friends and families of “dead fags” (their hateful words, not mine), but it looks like they’re upping their game, as they sink to a whole new low, sick and twisted attention whores that they are.

  5. Yeah, i heard this story on the radio this morning, and i have to agree that it’s pretty fucked up. Not that it’s typical, but i’d only expect this kind of idiocy from Americans. Personally, i’d like to see the whole clan of them crammed into thier own greyhound bus with the psycho who murdered that poor kid.

  6. They tried to protest Matthew Shepphard’s funeral, they planned to protest Heath Ledger’s funeral. The anti-gay propaganda is almost funny though – “37% of children are molested by ‘FAGS'”. Apparently, most inbreds ain’t so good at math.

  7. Holy Crap. That’s totally incomprehensible. I’m always shocked when people take it upon themselves to be god’s judges. I mean, who the hell are you anyway? What makes you think that your interpretation of the bible is any more valid than any other snivling maggot on this god-forsaken rock? Is it just me, or does it seem like there’s a lot more extremism these days? I understand (from watching the doc “Jesus Camp”- now that’ll give you nightmares, I tell ya) that fundamentalism in the States is stronger than ever. You’d think that the experience of 9/11 would illustrate to people the dangers of extremism. Religion without tolerance is poison.

  8. Religious fanaticism is an addiction, just like food or drugs or cigarettes or booze or gambling… it fills a void and offers addicts some relief from their own demons. Like any addiction, it causes bad, bad behavior, and quite frequently, leads to terrible lapses in judgement and even outright insanity.Sad, stupid, lazy people. Get a fucking grip.God?

  9. It hurts me so to see this yet it happens time and time again. The severe and perverse irony of religion is that words given and actions taken by man in the cause of my name are so often worlds apart from what I am really about. In fact much of organized religion is nothing more than an exploitation of God

  10. God, you’re slipping. Last few posts have failed to remind us that you are watching…We have short memories; you gotta keep us on our toes.

  11. I’m with God.Organized religion is a cruel exploitation of people’s most fundamental fear – the fear of non-existence, or death. The promise that our lives will continue with just a tiny alteration – a different location – after our death is irresistible.Buddhism’s cool though. I like Buddhism. I bet God does too. Right God?

  12. i just hope, that when one of THEM dies, hundreds of thousands of people who have been offended by their idiotic displays of fanaticism will flock to protest their funeral, and claim that they are the fags and being punished.but then again, that would not portray us, the outraged, as being better than them.ill just put them in the same pile as an infant, who throws hissy fits for next to no reason whatsoever.

  13. But Jammie, I am watching, and I do not believe that you really needed to be reminded now, did you.Qwerty, yes Buddhism as with other eastern religions, is less about me in the context of the Guy with the White Beard, and more about what is inside the individual, so in that regard, yeah its cool.

  14. I just heard on the radio that they believe it’s not just God’s judgment on Tim McLean, but also on all of Canada. It’s our permissive way of life (letting the queers get married and such) that has brought on the wrath of the Lord.Repent! Repent! It’s the end of the world!

  15. Our attention and outrage is the food these monsters require for nourishment. Let’s all ignore them and let the demons starve to death.

  16. i know this thread is mainly about those hateful westboro religious whackos, whose primary claim to fame is (up)staging obscene protests at funerals (of all things!), but i’d like to say something about PETA, and their incredibly stupid idea to draw attention to the cause of animal abuse, by exploiting the Tim McLean tragedy.—i’d like to point out, in fairness to PETA, they have been a strong voice against the horrific abuse & suffering inflicted upon animals every second of every day, on a scale so MASSIVE it’s incomprehensible, particularly in north american slaughter houses.if you’ve ever witnessed how (industrially farmed) animals are actually slaughtered, the actual (terrifying) process involved, you’d never look at a piece of meat in the same way again (unless you’re a sociopath without a conscience). but that’s kinda the point isn’t it, very few of us actually THINK (or CARE) about anything anymore, nevermind where our food actually comes from, how it was raised, and least of all, how it was brutally slaughtered. out of sight, out of mind, easy & convenient, don’t think, don’t care.PETA’s job IS to be provocative and make people THINK about our unspeakable cruelty against animals, and for that, they get my support.—HOWEVER, in the case of Tim McLean (may he be at peace), who was also brutally slaughtered, a few insensitive boneheads at PETA (those responsible for that exploitive & offensive ad campaign) have most likely set-back PETA’s efforts by years, and no doubt, will lose many supporters because of the utter STUPIDITY of some of their members. i AM a PETA supporter, and MAY continue to be, but don’t think for one second that i support such mindless & heartless exploitation; that only puts PETA on the SAME level as those INSANE Westboro Baptists. and today, i am absolutely ASHAMED to be a PETA member.consider yourself on-notice PETA… if you want MY continued support (and money), then clean up your act, and FIRE those fucking idiots who organized the Tim McLean ad campaign!(btw, afaik, the PETA ad did not get published in the papers, thankfully)

  17. I was horrified when I read that article this morning. As if what happened wasn’t bad enough, we’ve now got religious extremists involved.I can only hope that all the people who were close to the victim don’t let this get to them; they have enough to cope with.I’m an animal rights supporter; but never a PETA supporter.

  18. That PETA ad just reveals how stupid and misguided they are. They should have run the ad just to let the rest of the world revel in PETA’s awesome cruelty. For a group that’s supposed to value the physical and emotional health of life, in all its forms, PETA doesn’t seem to care very much about the emotional anguish their sorry little campaigns do to those who loved Tim McLean and for all Canadians who are trying to make sense of this tragedy.Fuck PETA.

  19. unfortunately, Miles… i’m with you on this one, PETA’s made a huge mistake with that ad campaign.if they have any sense at all, they will issue a sincere and heartfelt public apology.

  20. I doubt that Techy. Have you seen the ad archives on the PETA website? It’s full of distasteful ad campaigns that they proudly display because no sensible person would publish them. Shock and awe is all this organization is about. They suck. There are very few humans in the world who actually abuse animals for fun. They really don’t need to try so hard to tug on people’s heart strings make people aware of animal cruelty or get people to support anti-cruelty initiatives. If they weren’t such extremists they would probably find they have a whole lot more support in the world and might actually be more effective at lobbying the government and industry to make meaningful changes that benefit the physical and emotional health of animals. Instead their methods only work to attract other radicals to their cause, making the organization even more unpalatable by the majority of the population.

  21. I’m a long standing supporter of PETA. The horrors that go on with factory farming are beyond unspeakable. Our entire society must be pychopathic to some extent to allow for this sort of thing to go on on a day to day basis with many of us turning a blissfully blind eye…HOWEVER! They should NOT have exploited Tim McLean or his family to get their point across. I’m proud that the Canadian government has alerted the boarder patrol to prevent the crossing of those westboro zealots.God must have been having an off day.Check this link out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABH_RFeeGAs : )

  22. @lilaci’ve e-mailed PETA, demanding that they issue a sincere public apology to Tim McLean’s family & friends, and to the canadian people, for their mindless, insensitive, exploitive, shameful ad campaign. i’d like to encourage you to do the same, lilac.i don’t want to hear any lame excuses from PETA either, just a straight-up apology for their stupidity.

  23. PETA might be almost as dumb as the Westboro clan, especially if they’d also exploit someone’s grisly, highly publicized death for their own purposes. Talk about psychotic. Their representative is a set of tits in a blonde wig and a leather catsuit working on a TV show sponsored by KFC, and they’re always wanting to shock people with blood and gore.Is Russ Meyer the head of PETA?

  24. I support PETA’s stated goals to some degree, but their means sometimes border on domestic terrorism. Somewhat less than Greenpeace of course, but still too far. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

  25. yeah jammie, but at times it becomes necessary to rattle people’s cages, just to make them sit up and pay attention to what’s actually happening under their very noses, and the unethical horrors being committed in their names. most people don’t know, and sadly, don’t care either.but, what PETA did recently (exploiting Tim McLean’s savage murder) went beyond insensitivity and poor taste, and for that they ought to be ashamed. as a PETA supporter, i’m ashamed and embarrassed by their recent actions.we all make stupid mistakes, so i hope that PETA does the right thing, by apologizing (and never pulling that stupid shit again).

  26. Yeah I get all that, I just wish they didn’t (appear to) have associations with ELF and ALF. (Insert LOTR and 80s sitcom jokes here.)

  27. Fair? My perspective isn’t unfair to them. I’m not influential enough to portray PETA as anything. I’m saying if their idea of a spokesperson is Playmate’s most featured cover girl, who can’t even research upcoming work to find out the show she’s starring on is heavily sponsored by KFC, and they still retain her as a representative, I pretty much have all the information I need right there.I never said I thought that was all PETA was about. I said that’s the main reason why I believe they’re whackjobs.

  28. @Beav, are you talking about pamela anderson? what show is she starring in that’s sponsored by kfc? i hadn’t heard. then again, i’m not a fan either (who is??).anyway, that would be a rather blatant oversight on the part of PETA, but again, the organization’s efforts can’t be characterized by what some of its celebrity reps do on their own time.

  29. PETA is run by a bunch of liars and extremists, who try to pull at people’s heartstrings to make money. They’re bogus. Any true animal lover/rights activist knows this. That’s all.

  30. yes, techcafe, Pamela Anderson, and she’s not just any celebrity spokesmodel, she’s *the* face of PETA. It was criticized pretty highly, then blew over, like everything does… it was Big Brother and she said she didn’t know but then she issued a statement saying oh, well, it’s lucrative, and did it anyway. Not sure if PETA responded but if they didn’t catch wind, and I did? And I’m not even paying attention? They should be more aware of their biggest advocates being hypocritical and doing things just for money. But… relegating their organization to beer-commercial status for publicity, I don’t expect them to care what else she does, as long as they get to use her as their sexy symbol for meat and fur being murder and she gets to do whatever the fuck she wants anyway and everyone involved still gets more promotion from it, I’d say it’s working for both parties. Just isn’t doing it for me.

  31. sarah, is that just your opinion OR do you have actual proof to support your claim that PETA is run by a bunch of liars and extremists? just wondering…Beav, i don’t have cable tv, so i’m not exactly familiar with pop culture trash (like Big Brother, et al), and i’ve never been happy about PETA’s celebrity alliances, but we live in a celebrity culture (sadly), so i understand the enticement to USE those people to get PETA’s message out there, even if i don’t agree with their methods.i respect your thoughts on the matter, PETA may be on a slippery slope to pop culture obscurity, especially if their latest antics are any indication.

  32. PETA and Greenpeace ARE extremists. Sure, you could say that their ‘manifestos’ were written with good intentions, but they’ve gotten so far removed from their origins, and their tactics are outrageous. What’s the difference between a group which says “it’s too bad that sealers died, but what they’re doing is wrong”, and a group which says “the killing of Tim McLean was an act of God”? Either way, they are people who are using a public tragedy as the soapbox on which to stand. Trying to cash in on something like that is just plain tacky.

  33. Tasha, you were referring to the Westboro whackos, who said Tim McLean’s murder was an act of god, right?

  34. PETA kills almost 90% of the animals they take and are suppose to adopt out. You can find that on their website.PETA targets children as young as 6 with disturbing ads.PETA gives money to know arsonists, bugalars and other criminals. They think these types of crimes (e.g. – arson) are ok because they support their cause.PETA takes a strong stance against animal testing and doesn’t want anyone using the byproducts of animal testing. Yet, one of its senior members is a diabetic who requires insulin…..Insulin that came as the result of animal testing on dogs! PETA says its ok for her to use it because, again, she supports their cause.Hypocrites and Extremists!

  35. Yeah Tech. i was creating a parallel between religious extremists and eco-terrorists. Extremism is extremism, regardless of their ’cause’.

  36. Yup, they all have the same mindset, just different words on their signs. I’m definitely pro-animal rights, but I think PETA has succeeded in aligning so many people en bloc against them, that they’ve done more to hurt their case. When you’re trying to help a cause, you really should refrain as much as possible from alienating the masses. It shouldn’t be your goal. It doesn’t work.

  37. Wow, I came back to check on this topic and it’s on animal rights XD Thats pretty far from Westboro Baptist church.
