To the driver who parked his car in the fire lane in front of the North Street Sobeys:

You idled your vehicle for a while, trapping me in at the exit (the store’s display of flowers & plants blocks the path to the sidewalk) and subjecting me and my baby to your car’s exhaust.

When you decided to put it in park, you obstructed a pedestrian crosswalk and the fire lane (which is illegal), forcing me to walk out into traffic to make my way back to the sidewalk. I objected. You had some passengers with mobility issues. This doesn’t exempt you from the rules, guy. If your passengers can’t make the journey from the parking lot to the entrance, they’re in need of a walker or a wheelchair. If they can walk around inside the store, they don’t need to be ferried to the entrance.

I’m not trying to be an asshole but I hate it when people impose on others because they believe their needs are more important. And I really hate it when I’m forced to put my kid at risk for the sake of someone else’s convenience. Rules exist because of people like you. Try it again and I’ll insist that the store and/or police get involved. —Mama Bear

  1. I go to this Sobeys often and there seems to always be at least one car sitting in the firelane/crosswalk! Once there were 4!! It makes it hard to even drive around them, because of cars coming from the opposite direction. They’re all just lazy cows! If their passenger is the one with ‘mobilty’ issues, they should sit in the car in the parking lot while the able-bodied driver goes inside.

  2. Hub-Unit uses a walker and I’d never let him go in and get shit while my two pins are functioning. Lazy, self-intitled pricks.

  3. This happens EVERY. FUCKING. WHERE. and it fills me with rage. 99% of the time it’s perfectly healthy people who are just too fucking lazy to walk the extra 10 ft from a real parking spot to the door. It makes me want to key their car, but I’d rather not get arrested/beaten, so instead I just silently fume to myself about it.

  4. oh yes, it is their god given right to park there, or anywhere they wish. no, call the cops then.

  5. Let go of your cart ‘accidentally’ and let it bump into the side of a parked car.

  6. One of these days I’m going to just climb up and stomp over a car parked like this that gets in my way.
