Thank you to a certain university, for being the only school not closed right now in HFX. The two smaller universities had enough sense to close early. yet we are stuck to wait out a storm, and then wade through foot-deep snow. huzzah.

Is this the same certain university that did not close during White Juan, with the reason given by the doddgy president being “We just had a week off for winter break…”, who then looked like a fool becuase one of the staff members died in a snow bank of an apparent heart atttack enroute to work because busses werent running? If so, I’m certainly not shocked.
One of said smaller universities didn’t close until 2:30. They made the announcement at 12:30 yet didn’t close for two more hours. WTF is up with THAT?
Universities are pretty lame when it comes to closing due to shitty weather on the whole.
At least you didn’t trudge all the way to an evening class to THEN find out it was cancelled.

I’ve seen complaints (I won’t call them bitches) about professors who can put off retiring until they’re 197& 1/2 years old. Which is going to make it hard for any changes in the ranks any time soon.
Perhaps if all the schools stayed open…attendence by teachers was manditory, more of them would have heart attacks at a younger age like 75 -80 & would allow for some newer staff.

I don’t know what program you’ve taken, More, but in my 8.5 years of university I’ve only had/seen ONE prof over the age of 60 or so, and that one retired last year…
Most of my profs have been 30s-early 50s and yes, I’ve been in a variety of programs.
My wife works there at nights and it was a total disregard to employee safety. Greatfully, she made it home.
Come on people! If you’re attending/working at a University, then you’re a fucking adult! If you think it’s unsafe to go out, then don’t fucking go! Grow half a brain and use some discretion. Fucking whiners.

You have a point, but when classes are going, you miss quite a bit of information when you don’t go. Then you’re fucked. Work… well it can be easily pu toff
