For some reason the DMV moved to a remote location, on the far/industrial side of Bayers Lake. While it used to be central/west end Halifax, close to the only shopping center on the Halifax side. CONVENIENT. Only two Metro Transit buses travel by the new location.
Interesting, considering to obtain your license you have to take the test at the DMV?! I understand they have a new location in Sackville, but now, the entire city has to come into the constant traffic jam that is Bayers Lake. —Loves Irrational Government Decisions

  1. If you have to take the bus to get your license renewed or whatever, maybe you don’t really need a car. Aside from that I don’t know why they moved to BLIP. Certainly can’t be for everybody’s convenience.

  2. This is old news. They had to move out to Bayers Lake because their lease was up at their old location and the landlord wouldn’t let them renew (or something along those lines).

  3. I took my bike to get our car registered because, surprise, my lady was using the car. So yes, some people do need access to access nova scotia and they don’t always have a car to get them there.

  4. Oooooh I remember, Cranky.

I remember going with my parents when I was little and waiting FOREVERRRRRR.

    Frig.

You still wait forever at the one in Bayers Lake (and you did at the one at the west end mall), but at least there are lots of places to sit.

  5. i work out here and it has not been here for a year… and one only has to renew their license every 5 years or something so how would he know where it is if he didnt have to renew yet?

  6. It’s been about a year.

I remember seeing the sign at west end mall go down when I started working at the office tower at HSC about a year ago.

I dunno, this is just old news.

  7. I remember the Young Street snaking line-ups! That’s when I started calling it DMfuckingV! I’m still surprised when I’m in and out in under an hour!

  8. The flip side would be; FFS when are those dicks in Gov’t going to move the RMV/DMV to somewhere more accessible, fucking Young Street is the shits, then when will they move it from West End am tired of almost running into shoplifters legging it to shitty housing with stolen shit.

  9. Yep instead of everyone going to the place on Young St and standing forever, you now have three locations to choose from where the seats are comfy and there are free papers (both the Horrid and Metro. Further if you’re smart, go at the middle of the month when it’s not busy.

  10. The property owners at WestEndMall jacked the rent so the DMV left….it’s that simple. Would you rather the DMV pay up and stay in that outdated shitty location. The new location is awesome. If you get there early, there are no line ups. Great building too.

  11. i won’t even go there with what i think of that fucking place. i’ve had it up past my ears with the bullshit and easier access, to fucking whom, is it easier? they are so fucked up, it would take me a month to put everything here, so i won’t go any further.

  12. I had to go to one of those last year.
I didn’t know there was one in Bayers Lake Park
So I went to the one on Portland St, beside the Stuper store.

It was lined up right out the door & into the parking lot !

So I thought, F’ this BS….I’ve gotta be in Truro tomorrow & I’ll try there.
I went there & a lady came out saying if your going in there…its all backed up today, I walked in & there was at least 10 people !
I was in & out in less than a half hour ~:)

But the point I’m slowly getting to is there is one in Dartmouth & there are a lot of buses running up & down Portland Street.

  13. you can do a multitude of things on line, and your license expires on your birthday. passports are every five years too, plan ahead for both and it will be stress free

  14. I had to replace my lic… it got lost in the move somewhere… I went up to Bayers Lake and was done in 32 mintues… which to an ex-Morontonian is bliss! I just wish I had known where it actually was in the first place. ‘Bayers Lake Business Park’ is a big place. Oh, and the people there were really nice.

  15. it’s easier to get to from the highway, as apposed to driving through bl. i found them because they are across from rona…hay rosie

  16. 😀 I know… and I have a new vehicle! I can pick them up Sat. if you are around the store… or wherever…

  17. the only time I’ve ever been to the ol’ Lane furniture store, I was in and out in about 20 mins.
go early and not on a weekend if you can. get to work an hour late instead of spending your whole saturday enqueued.

  18. The decision to move Access Nova Scotia to the very edge of the city is what passes for thinking in the shit hole formerly known as Nova Scotia
