the city of hrm and the province say $1 drinks bring more crime and drunkiness to the downtown.well either find a way to impose some kind of bar tax to go toward paying for more police charged to all liquire places only like $1500.00/month to stop those prices or just DROP THE BITCHING!

  1. The funny thing is that many other places around the world provide MUCH cheaper drinks (there is actually a bar in Hong Kong center which gives out FREE drinks one night a week) and these cities don’t seem to have the same “problems” that we do in HRM. Either that or they are just not as hyper-sensitive to a few brawls. Personally I would rather see the governemnt/police more concerned with the stat that we are the currently the murder capital of the maritimes.

  2. There’s not nearly as much drunkeness and crime downtown as there was at one point in our history. This city is a port city. It’s always gonna be full of sailors and full of bars…and therefore drunks….especially downtown Halifax. It’s always gonna be a little seedy, regardless of how much we beautify. Put some more cops on downtown to control the drunkeness, and some better lighting so we can all see who’s hiding around the corner.

  3. The more expensive the drinks are the more The Bad Guy predrinks (and flasks it depending on the bar of choice).Either way The Bad Guy is getting drunk and causing problems. Beating up bouncers, breaking bottles, public urination, The Bad Guy is all class baby!
