This is Halifax dude, there is nothing more important for the police in Halifax, than writing another ticket…they might even have a policy where the person responsible (aka dog owner) has to pay a fine & pay the Halifax Parks & Recreational people, who will invoice for manpower time, equipment used, gas, dog shit disposal fee etc. to clean up this pile of shit.
I don’ know about anyone else, but the revenue stream available to the city is huge !

I’ve always wondered why people bitch so much about dog shit outside but never complain about litter like pop cans and chip bags. The dog shit will dissolve in a rain or two. It’s easily avoidable. Don’t step on it. Tell your kids to avoid it. The pop cans and chip bags are there forever, or until some good soul comes along and picks them up.
And no, I don’t own a dog.

Just wondering because, although I do it now, I didn’t as a kid, and I don’t remember anyone else doing it either…when did society make the change from not picking up to picking up shit??
did you grow up in the city? “Pooper scooping” and “curb your dog” has been around in urban areas since the 80’s at least, although growing up rurally no one seemed to care.
I’ve lived all over but I’m talking 70’s/80’s when I mostly lived in Moncton and Montreal.
I could just see some politician stepping in a steamy pile one day (late 80’s early 90’s) and being all “that’s it, someone’s gonna pay for this!”
Personnally, I have my oldest dog trained to hang her ass just over the edge of the sidewalk where there is a bank that drops into the woods….perfect everytime!
I just wish my dog would actually take a shit during her walk. She saves it up for when we get home… then I have to find a place in the yard, get the shovel, suffice to say, it’s a pain in the arse.

Sad thing is…… there is no by-law demanding people clean up after their dogs…. and I don’t know if I have ever heard of litter by-laws actually being enforced in this city. These people run around knowing they’re pretty much untouchable…. walking away from the scene of a dog-shitting whilst tossing the Tim Horton’s cup from which they drinking right along beside it.
There is a by law concerning picking up your dogs shit in public places . Whether it’s strictly enforced is questionable . I own a dog and always clean up his poop . Just a decent thing to do.

My dog comes from NS and have had him tagged there – but in calgary – by laws concerning dogs and cats are enforced strictly . The by Law officers here are EVERYWHERE !!!
