Thanks for the straight dope about the “consent” workshop. I trucked all the way downtown only to find that I needed to register and pay $20. Who’s got an extra $20? I sure don’t. But how could I know the workshop was for rich people when you didn’t put all the details in your paper? (No, I can’t afford the internet either.) I think in the future I’ll save myself some time and bus fare by not reading your paper at all. —Tired of Elitist Shitheads

  1. There are workshops for consent now? How is this a difficult concept? You can’t get much more Black and white than ‘yes’ and ‘no’. Sounds like someone is making some easy cash.

  2. Sounds like it was probably at Venus Envy. Yeah, they usually have fees, but I believe they do pwyc if folks have limited funding(don’t quote me, I know the fees go to the guests they’re paying to do the workshops). As far as registration goes, I believe their space is limited and thus workshops usually have a capacity.

  3. Something costing $20 doesn’t = “for rich people”.. stop being ridiculous.. & you may not have wifi (also not just “for rich people”.. but you do have a brain & access to libraries & cafes, no?

    “Elitist”.. gimme a fuckin’ break

  4. I hear you buddy. They could have been more upfront with all the information. I suspect they did it deliberately hoping that once in the door, people would just pay. That’s no better than a con as far as I’m concerned.
