The Coast is a shitty newspaper in my eyes.

1. It contains way too many ads, most of which have to do with some dive bar, hair salon, or fucking weird “alternative-lifestyle” shit.

2. I read a lot of fucking opinions in The Coast. Very rarely do I read about solutions for these problems. Extremely rarely do I read realistic solutions to any problem with this city.

3. Enough with the indie hipster crap already. We get it! Your head is up your ass as well as someone elses!

  1. printed word?!?!?! who reads that anymore?

    welcome to the 21st century.
I read the coast more frequently on my phone than holding a piece of paper in front of my face.

  2. I love and agree with Point 3 more than anything (but like Point 2, as well). I know The Coast is a left-leaning alternative news source, but I really think they need to hire at least some writers with varied opinions and viewpoints on topics, or some who are at least not so loonie lefty like Bruce Wark-o.

Not the most coherent sentence I know… being distracted at the moment but you get my point!

  3. I’ve been noticing the crush of opinions and lack of solutions in The Coast for the last several months. And agree, soon the paper will be nothing more than an ad flyer at the rate it is going. Content is becoming very light.

  4. I’d parachute Bruce Wank into the Shah-I-Kot Valley with a copy of the Satanic Verses rammed up his Khyber and Property Of The C.I.A. tattooed on his tongue. Embrace the diversity Cousin Brucie

  5. Does anyone else mistake that Dr. Christopher Jackman Lasik Eye surgery ad they always have in The Coast print edition as an advertisement for a gay sex chatline, or is that just me?

A bit harsh on Wark-o Ivan, but at the same time, I kind of agree with you! Buddy is so far out in left field with minimal compromise on his “facts,” well… he’s pretty much not even in the game anymore! Woo hoo, decent analogy I think.

  6. Bruce Wark is the fellow who hates Americans, right? Didn’t he write today’s anti-American tirade about relief efforts in Haiti? I cannot remember.

  7. well if you feel that way, then don’t even bother to post anything. online is way better than hard copy, because of what i say next. GET FUCKED ASSHLOE.

  8. Q, I actually read Mini-Chomsky’s puerile drivel. Not only does it give me an ulcer that a B-52 could do loop-de-loops in (before carpet bombing starving Haitians, right Li’l Noam) but for some equally perverse reason I do enjoy seeing what conspiracy theories the George Galloway groupies are currently buying into. Read Bullfinch if you want mythology, people. The ancient Greeks got it right the first time.

  9. of course there’s indie hipster crap that’s what Now mag; the Georgia strait and the Coast are: reading material for the entertainment of indie crap connassiuers(?)not even close prob.

  10. I think any news media source (TV, Radio, Newspaper, Internet) can be biased. Only as long as they source is unapologetic and consistent. At the very least, the Coast is that, at the very least. If you want a balanced news source, read the National Post, or watch CTV news, and to a lesser extent, the CBC run media sources.

That said, there was an issue dedicated to “fixing the city” that posed a number of questions and provided potential solutions. However, I don’t expect a newspaper to fix the problems… That’s the responsibility of the citizenry.

  11. Indie hipsters can be hot…but it gets old after while. Suit and tie men are more my cup of tea.
