To the toddler holding the hands of two adults who cavalierly walked through a red light at rush hour at Hollis and Sackville, flipping me off as I blasted on my car horn to get their attention, scaring you but earning their spite. You deserve better than these sorry excuses for grown-ups who just about got you killed at the age of 3. I’m sure you know what a red light means. —Attentive Driver

Awwwww – Is there anything more heartwarming than seeing young anarchists in love breeding a new generation of dissent? You should feel proud of giving them the opportunity for a teaching moment, in which they explained to little Hugo Chavez the subtleties of “civil disobedience” and the importance of standing up to the tyranny of the automobile.

My son (4yo) tells me that his step-dad says it’s ok to ‘sneek’ through a red light….. as long as no one is looking. O.o
nice eh!
Sounds like you picked a winner.
How do you know that child “deserves better”? That kid might be an asshole
I’m sure these parents once were the 3 year old walking innocently between parents like this. There is only one way to stop the cycle of retardedness op. And you missed the opportunity.
Kidding, I’m sure..
Walking on a green at Duke and Barrington today when this fucking twit twat barrelled through the red light on Barrington southbound and almost made a hood ornament out of me.
Then, on the way home, I watch this dude cross against a red light on Robie Street, ignoring the fact a driver going down North had to slam on his brakes to avoid hitting his idiot ass.
It’s six of one, half dozen of the other. Maybe it’s time to revive Elmer the Safety Elephant for Dumb Grownups.
aaa, elmer, childhood memories
They were obviously in a hurry to get to Direction 180 before closing time.
Two of my biggest pet peeves in Halifax? #1 Parking (but ya gotta love the new library), and #2 Pedestrians–they just don’t give a fuck!
where are you from heather ann? If you’re going to drive here, you have to read the city by-laws that state clearly that this is a pedestrian city and THEY HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY at crosswalks AND implied crosswalks.
That is how things work around here. You either have to deal with it or take the bus.
I’m not disputing whether or not pedestrians have the right of way. What I don’t enjoy is when the “don’t walk” hand is on and these pedestrians continually ignore the sign. Nevermind how difficult it is to turn left to begin with, but with an added (asshole) pedestrian who goes against the grain, it’s insane! I’m sure you’d feel the same way if you were in the same line up waiting to make your own left turn. I always watch the crosswalks. Sometimes pedestrians are walking along, they don’t look like they’re going to turn, you continue on and then last minute they decide to dart out. Gotta love the ones who won’t push the buttons for the lights. Most of the time they’re too wrapped up in their cell phones.
I heard the fairly new HRP traffic cop over the radio say pedestrians do not have the right of way.
What he said was the opposite to what most,if not all of us were taught, while growing up.
Those adults need a smack.
