Just getting this off my chest:
What the hell did I ever do to you? I work my ass off for you… I build up your business and go above and beyond the call of duty. You wanna stay at your cottage an extra day and get drunk? Sure, I’ll drive in an hour early and open the business so you can have fun! Need to leave early? Sure I’ll stay. When I close everything is cleaned and put in its proper place. More than I can say for most. I set up the networking site and spend time posting on it so our clients are aware of what is going on… so we can succeed…. a million and one little things done because I believe in the business.
Not saying that you haven’t been helpful to me… and I have shown my appreciation by working extra hard! Fair trade I figure. Clients tell you how lucky you are to have me. How much they like me. Some have even said they patronize the business because of my hard-working, caring and upbeat attitude.
And now I am unreliable? When my disaster struck I kept you in the loop, gave you enough lead time to get someone to cover for me. Today I hitch-hiked to get close enough to get a bus. I was only 45 min. later than I usually start and you had 2 other people in… more than enough!
I know what you are trying to do, and sorry you are prejudiced against my life-style, but I have done nothing but work, work, work for you. I will not quit! Do what you have to… I have a lawyer on speed-dial!—Hard Work is its Own Reward, But it Doesn’t Pay the Rent!

Try to get fired, then you’ll get EI. Plus start looking for a new job now. That kind of hateful attitude is bad for you.
There’s a lot of bosses like this…they never give credit where credit is due…and never want to admit that the success of their own company is due to anything but their own hard work. I totally know how you feel and what you’re going through. I know it’s hard not to be….but don’t be bitter and bad mouth them publicly…it really only makes you look bad…not the employer.
Umm last time I checked you have to be laid off foe ei. Being fired disqualifies you…
Halicowton, actually that’s not always true.
You can be fired & you can quit & still be eligible for UI.
For example I know someone who quit their job at a Halifax Hotel recently because of a bed bug infestation. She had the experience from her sister having gotten a bed bug infestation in her home. They went through hell & it cost a lot of money to get them cleared out.
Her reason for leaving had the interviewer’s skin crawling & she got on EI for the couple of months it took her to find a new job.
Quitting a job you are physically unable to perform, gets you the same thing….I’m sure there are other circumstances as well . Its not a black & white distinction of you quit or you’re fired, you’re disqualified.
