OK, I love Halifax. People are great. Except for the hobbit complex. You know, the selfish, inconsiderate friendliness that backs up traffic for innocent jaywalkers or holds the door for you when you’re a good ten steps away. The brain-dead “aren’t we just so friendly today” friendliness that is really a form of after-you-Alphonse passive aggression. Case in point: every third person exiting a rear bus door sings out “Thank you!!” to the bus driver, as though a) He gave a shit b) He was doing you a personal favour by driving you around and c) There weren’t 15 tired people being politely silent to one another within two feet of you. It’s not polite, friendly, neighbourly or anything like that to thank the driver from the back door. It’s the opposite. It’s impolite, unfriendly and rude. And to mistake one for the other requires a degree of self-congratulatory stupidity which is one of the worst features of Halifax life. —Try the Front Door

this is a joke bitch right?
or do we have to use the word churlish again?
try exiting a bus without saying ‘thankyou’ in bermuda and see what happens.
You know to that driver the Thank you can turn a shitty as day into a better one! So OP go shove this pathetic excuse for a bitch up your stuck up ass!
There’s definitely a shitload of passive aggressive crap here but it’s not coming from the people getting off the bus.
Asssssss-holllllle lol
Cool, OP. I will tell my 5 and 6 year old they are doing it wrong. I had no idea.
come on o.p., if you got fucked in the ass, wouldn’t you thank the one doing it????
If you don’t like politeness OB, let me make you feel at home. Fuck off you old wanker. Feel better now?
OMG I agree, thank you for writing this. People are polite to the extent that it becomes annoying. Also the fake-stoic selflessness that comes along with every maritimer do-good story. Case in point: CBC’s recent call in show where people tell stories of their heroism or that of their family members: “Oh, I don’t consider myself a hero, just doing what anyone would do” (despite calling a radio station to brag about it).
Note, I’m from the region and I endorse this bitch.
OB: get over yourself and ….have a nice day asswipe! LOL.
As a driver it does make me feel good when people say thank you exiting the door. I also yell back your welcome if they are doing so from the rear door. I don’t expect people to do so and that is why many times it has turned my shitty day around.
“try exiting a bus without saying ‘thankyou’ in bermuda and see what happens”
I will GDM. I’m buying plane tickets as we speak. I just want to test your hypothesis, it has nothing to do with the cold weather.
go to the caribbean instead. bda is friggin cold in the winter. i had to buy a down quilt.
there is no rear door on buses. enter and exit at the front, and you better bloody well say good morning and thankyou. some people say good morning to the entire bus. i liked that. and they are painted pink and blue. the buses, not the people. except at carnival.
do you have a farm? should i wrap my maples?
op needs this……and i want one for myself!
https://www.facebook.com/nsspca.pas/posts/…
OB …. its been awhile , but are you not suppose to exit out the back doors ?
Keeps those leaving from running into those attempting to board , right ?
So my next question is ,why does someone calling out a thankyou piss you off so much ?
Does it cause you pain or hurt you somehow ?
Is that act of politeness costing you money ?
I would really appreciate an answer , so I can better understand your point of view.
So thanks in advance ….oh shit I probably shouldn’t have written a thanks in there ‘eh !
You’re the moron. What’s wrong with being polite? Good manners are never a waste of time.
This is your bitch? Really?! I thank the TTC drivers all the time, no one get bent out of shape, and i certainly doesn’t hold up the line.
People who complain about these things must be SOOO tightly wound that they can’t take a shit. Which is probably why they’re in such a terrible mood.
OP I’m tired, just call yourself an idiot.
I am now starting my workday laughing my ass off:D. Thanks OP……um, hope that ‘thanks’ counts, even though it’s currently at the end of the thread–I really mean it…I love starting my day with a good laugh;)
Good dog molly; What the hell does Bermuda have to do with this bitch? Holy shit, verbal diarrhea. What about the buses in Jamaica, Haiti, Cuba, Congo, Kyrgyzstan? As the Montrealman likes to say, “stop dribbling”.
Really? Saying thank you or please takes such little effort and is the right thing to do.
Do you burp in public and never say excuse me too?
Frig…last week you bitched about Crossing Guards, and now manners?
Move to LA ffs.
people like you are the reason the world is becoming such a shit hole…get a soul…asshole
Damn it.. blow ruined the setup for the ‘back door’ joke.
It’s all about finesse and subtlety in your delivery.
You have to make the recipient piece it together… that’s what MAKES the joke.
… and you wonder why you’re always outnumbered in dislikes… gawwwwd..
Here’s a joke I’m sure you’ll like suxster… it’s just your speed.
Why did the hen cross the road?
She was all horny and saw a rooster across the street and wanted to fuck the living shit out of it.
Hilarious.
douche.
Jesus Christ! I’m impolite, unfriendly and rude – but to thank the driver from the back door is rude? Really? I guess I lose the Cunt-of-the Week award! LOLOL!
zzz, that joke was as about funny as the blind guy that fingered little girls. fuck man, can’t you do better. and do i really give a shit about likes on here, nope?
haven’t heard from you in a couple of days woggie, things okay?
Hello OB (Ornery Bastard?, Bitch?, Butthead????)/OP (Obtuse Prick?/Putz?/Pinhead???),
Thank you for posting this. Thank you for pointing this all out. Thank you for opening our eyes to what a shithead you are. Thank you for helping us see how “brain-dead ‘aren’t we just so friendly today’ ” some of us are. Thank you for making us realize that you do not need to be cordial to the bus driver who puts up with assholes like you while working. Thank you for making me think, after reading the way you composed your bitch, that you are none other than montrealman (apology to mm if it’s not him). Thank you for making me see that there are useless testes lint like you walking around needlessly using our oxygen.
Thank you… I’ll be here all day!
^^ is that doozer’s mom????
Nukka must’ve changed his handle and woke up on the wrong side of the bed…are you in there Nukka?…If so, F@#K OFF and die!
Who’s Nukka??
a tard, that’s who
To those of you who think I may be “Nukka” and/or “a tard” I will enlighten you… McNasty is my name and at times a flame war is my game. If those comments were directed at me does it make you feel like more of a man to have typed them? If so, pathetic. Don’t fuck with me, boys.
If not then I apologize but caution you to be careful and let us know who you are addressing.
McNasty out.
It’s not “I kill you”, it “I keeeel you”.
McNasty or “I KILL YOU!!”. You are a little bitch and I hate the fact that Nukka would be associated to you. Nukka was made up, you don’t seem to be, that makes it worse. So now, I blatently addressed this to you, what are you going to do? Make another post? Get a life, you can have Nukka’s.
“Don’t fuck with me, boys.”
http://i1.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/origin…
just cause I love that meme.
Your elitist, internet douchebaggery will not get your far in this sanctuary.
OP, your combination of self-entitled twattery and stupidity is funny enough without you actually having the balls to call OTHER PEOPLE stupid.
That’s just hilarious.
Op listen. You haven’t been around enough yet to know you’re an idiot. You are still at that phase of your life to think that just because you have an opinion, that is enough proof that you’re intelligent as fuck. The reality is that not only are you so retarded i’m shocked you’re able to type, you are very likely at the front gates of a good, hefty dose of schizophrenia.
And yes. You CAN get me some fucking fries with that.
Ok, I do think that people in NS cling to the whole friendly thing. And I do think a lot of is is totally fake and cheesy. It seems to be pretty much the only thing we have going for us. That’s what people always say. “Oh maritimers are so friendly! blah de blah de blah” Seems like a lot of people around here think that if someone doesn’t hold a door or basically kiss your ass just for existing they’re a douchebag. And getting upset? Forget about it. No matter what reason, that is just totally unacceptable to some of these uppity “Everybody look how nice I am!” types.
Now I hold doors, and I am nice to people, but people shouldn’t feel entitled to a got damn smile and a pat on the back all the fucking time and that’s what drives me nuts.
It does kind of get on my nerves because I feel like there IS a lot of passive aggressiveness going on, and I’m the type of guy who would rather keep it real, say what’s on my mind and have others say what’s on theirs. I don’t like people who are constantly martyring themselves to help people who are usually unwilling to do anything for themselves. Opening their hearts to every lazy fucker with a sob story.
But people thanking a bus driver? You could have used a much better example. I don’t think there’s anything phony or passive aggressive about that. If a driver or passenger got bent out of shape because someone didn’t thank the driver, then I would call that person an SET.
Here’s one example that kind of struck me as a little odd and in a way entitled:
I worked retail at a store in bayer’s lake over the summer. They sold cellphones and cable and internet and stuff.
Guy comes in and we get to talkin, nice guy. He tells me that he was helping his relative in, I believe it was Winnepeg, build a fence and he said something like:
“In NS, is someone’s building a fence, every man in the neighborhood comes by to help him, but when I was in this neighborhood in Winnipeg, people looked out their windows and just watched us, I was thinkin ‘get your asses out here and..’ blah de blah.”
I thought, really? First of all, I’ve never had a stranger approach me while I was working on something and offering help. This guy was trying to compare this rural town he grew up in to an actual city.
My dad has been building new steps for our house for a few weeks now and I’ve helped him, not once has any stranger come by to offer a hand. That’s not the point though.
The point is that even if that is true, which it isn’t (I’m sure small towns all over the country are more like the one he described, it’s not a maritime thing.) it’s a stupid fucking thing to say. That people should feel obliged to help you do something and if they don’t they’re somehow inferior. Talk about entitled. Maybe if more Nova Scotians, especially rural Nova Scotians, had meaningful careers they too would be too busy to lend a hand to help this douchebag build his fucking fence. For free.
Appreciate friendliness, don’t take it for granted. I feel like a lot of people do and therefore a lot of people pretend to be all cheery and shit to appease these people, when really they just want to be themselves. I’m all for being yourself, even if you happen to be an asshole. At least you’re more easily identifiable that way.
But yeah, OP.. chill out.. just do you.. and don’t feel obligated to be all nice and cheery to people all the time when you’re not in the mood. Also don’t be a fuckwad just for the sake of it.
My(insert deity),what a world we live in,saying thanks to complete strangers .Whats the world comin to?
Blow it out your ass op. Try walking instead.
Well aren’t you just a ray of effing sun shine.
I had no idea being polite was offensive and rude. Good to know. The next time someone holds a door for me I’ll be sure to tell them to stuff it.
Boy, that cleared a lot up. I’ve been doing it wrong all these years.

Thanks BT
Wasn’t certain if anyone would make the connection to Jeff Dunham.

Hmm “Furious Style” or maybe “Fucking Shithead”??
I’m a big bitch, thank you.
So if Nukka was made up then they are a fictional character, dumb ass. A fictional character does not exist so how could I be associated with something that doesn’t exist thus making it worse, you dough hole?
It’s “blatantly” and NOT “blatently”, you dough hole!
You must have attended the “Dough Hole School of Grammar, Literature and Spelling”; “DuHOG” for short. Bet you graduated at the top of your class, too!
“what are you going to do? Make another post?”
Yes, I believe I just did, you dough hole.
“Get a life, you can have Nukka’s.”
Once again, how can I have the life of something that doesn’t exist or “was made up”, you dough hole?
Does your mommy know you visit the site and coat it in profanity?? Bet she’s really embarrassed that her little kid is such a dough hole, too!

“Your elitist, internet douchebaggery will not get your far in this sanctuary.”
I’ve already been there and back again within this sanctuary. Just used different names; and if this is such a “sanctuary” what the fuck are you doing here??
i remember you, you’re funny
uh oh. upsetting avatar alert. ^^ that bull pg, that poor bull.
i weep for the bulls. fuck you spain
“I kill you”, take a look at your writings, you seem to have a spelling and punctuation problem as well. I only made one typo, whats your excuse? You also really need a life, I can’t beleive the amount of thought you put into your postings. I’ll leave it at this, do any fictional characters exist? Because I watch some on television, but by your logic and ramblings I’m not actually watching them. Hmmm? And who the hell calls someone a dough hole, what part of that is the insult?
“I Kill You”, Just because I like to type, this is another one for you. Many people thought you were Nukka, how’s that feel?
better one pg!
thanks, the other one made me sad too and stompy and gorey
Wrecked him?

Disclaimer. There is little that is funny about the above photograph. The poor beast has been tormented to the point of madness by a pair of gutless greaseballs on horseback.
The pimp in the purple pantaloons getting horncoled, can suck garlicky cocks in hell.
Ole.
And for the inevitable questions of hypocrisy:
Yes, I eat beef.
No, I’ve never been inside an abattoir.
Yes, I’m perfectly comfortable with the apparent contradiction.
ivan, better if his testicles had been destroyed, so he can’t make little matadors.
That raises the whole nature or nurture argument, though.
I hope somebody stuck BBQ skewers in his back while waiting for the ambulance, an instead of morphine, a dagger between the third and fourth vertebrae.
this one would stop the trafficking that certain notorious puppy killers make their living from.

Even the highest sanctuaries have priests diddling the kiddies…
Done & done. GDM. Thanks for the opportunity.
tan Q !
BLOW: Check your email honey. Sorry about the delay! I’ll have to make it up to you when I see you again! xoxo
You are an idiot…. and by the sounds of things you are a selfish rude idiot!
Thank you is polite…. and if you can’t pause for 10 steps to hold the door for someone you live a sad life!
People like you is what is wrong with our world today.
Maybe your mother was one of those earbud wearing texters on the bus that we all hate!
OP here. Quite the deluge of foul-mouthed moronitude I provoked, along with a couple flamewars. Unsurprisingly, the point was totally missed by most. I’m not against thanking people, I’m not even against thanking the bus driver, I’m against SCREAMING IT FROM THE BACK OF THE BUS.
Why, you wonder? Why could it ever, ever possibly be rude to thank somebody? Oh happy Haligonian stupidity! It’s because YOU ARE THANKING YOURSELF FOR BEING A POLITE PERSON, not the bus driver for driving, when you do that. Likewise, people are not grateful for being asked to run the last fifteen steps so you can have the pleasure of being the kind of person who holds the door for them.
But . . . self-congratulation and self-indulgence not noticed, or actually applauded, in Halifax? You don’t say!
*sarcasm alert*
so……OP, pardonez-moi all to heck and back. i had NO idea you could read others’ minds, that you know what their thought processes are, what their motivations are.
so you KNOW that the person yelling ‘thankyou’ to the bus driver is doing it for their own selfish self aggrandizement, and not because they want the driver to hear it above the general hub-bub.
you certainly must have a misery in your tummy as you thunder through your day
i’ll snatch that ‘moronitude’ word for future use though. i like it!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks this bitch is ridiculous. It is polite to thank the bus driver.. even from the back door. He/She is bringing you some where. I hate to think there are people out there who don’t say thank you to Taxi Drivers, Bus Drivers, or anyone else who picks you up and drops you off. And if you like it quiet and don’t want to be “disturbed” by people being polite then wear headphones or don’t take the bus. Also there are CLEAR signs in the bus indicating that you should use the back door to exit so that you don’t hold up the people trying to get on the bus at the front. Trust me as a daily bus taker the bus driver DOES appreciate it when you say thank you and don’t hold up the natural flow of traffic. Think before you speak.
I exit at the back of the bus because people enter at the front of the bus and I don’t want to be that jerk who makes an old lady wait outside in the cold longer than she has to. I thank the bus driver because they wait for me as I’m running up to it, or they remind me to get a new bus pass because it’s the beginning of the mont and they let me on anyway. Calling people morons for saying thank you? C’mon. Put on your headphones, drown out the sounds of the bus and shut up.
Whether the thank you is right next to him or from the back of his bus I’m sure he still appreciates it. Maybe you should get a little more sleep at night so the thank you from the back of the bus doesn’t disturb your bus nap.
As a person who could easily be considered as an overly thankful person I would be that person you can’t stand. THANK YOU for proving nothing. THANK YOU for trying to stop people for being grateful. THANK YOU for trying to make public transit a little more dreadful.
THANK YOU.
Really I think its just ridiculous to be upset about someone saying thank you to someone else. Yes, it’s the bus driver’s job to drive you around, and yes we’re paying for it, but I say thank you to cab drivers, to cashiers when they hand me my receipt, etc. because I know from working somewhat shitty jobs, and even better jobs that it just makes you feel a little better about your day to hear that someone appreciates it.
I don’t say it all the time, or if I don’t feel that someone deserves it, and I’m not saying it for any sort of personal gain or to make myself look more polite, but I feel like if someone wants to express gratitude to someone else then who are you to say they shouldn’t?
As for the back door thing…you’re really not supposed to go out the front door when you’re getting off the bus…it says so right on the little signs.
Please stop assuming you know people and what they’re all about. I mean, complaining about people being nice? Really? Just go live in the woods by yourself if it offends you so much!
I 100% completely agree! I HATE when people scream thank you from the back. You seriously think the bus driver cares to yell back ‘youre welcome’ every stop? It’s his goddamn job. And yeah, there’s people all around you in silence who has to be disrupted by johnny-moron singing ‘thank you’ like a pretentious idiot. Thank you for this bitch, I love it.
it’s now worth my while to hump my ass into town and start taking the bus at random, exit from the back and holler ‘thanks!’ at the top of my lungs just because anyone churlish enough to complain about that needs to get disrupted from their miserable thoughts.
This is most pointless bitch I have ever read. Find some real problems to complain about.
..like genital warts…
chocolate oranges…
and all the accidents there are going to be this evening when idiotic people attempt to drive the limit on the impending, shitty road conditions.

” ‘I kill you’, take a look at your writings, you seem to have a spelling and punctuation problem as well.”
You are quite welcome to point them out, ass face.
“I only made one typo, whats your excuse?”
No excuse. Merely putting it in simple terms so you would understand.
“You also really need a life, I can’t beleive the amount of thought you put into your postings.”
It’s “believe” and NOT “beleive”. Seems that it doesn’t take much thought to communicate with you, you jerk off wad.
“I’ll leave it at this, do any fictional characters exist? Because I watch some on television, but by your logic and ramblings I’m not actually watching them. Hmmm?”
No you watch the actors who are portraying the fictional characters, you lint on a dick head. The actors exist as does the author who writes about fictional characters exists.
“And who the hell calls someone a dough hole, what part of that is the insult?”
Depends on how one defines the words “dough hole”. To me it’s that useless, empty space in the middle of a doughnut. Maybe if I had called you “dough head” you would have understood the meaning considering that’s what you are. Keep it up jackass (you do understand that word, don’t you?). I can do this all day, sweetheart.
Being a “moron” is a matter of intellect; moreover, it’s a pejorative used by the insecure. Saying “Thank you” is a matter of the heart (or feelings, if you find the distinction important). There is no situation where courtesy and amiability are inappropriate (unless those interrupt an urgent process, like landing a plane or the like). Surely, it’s evident here, that there ARE situations where those provoke the hyper-judgmental in search of more meaningful things on which to focus.
