The councillors are debating such earth shattering matters as; code of conduct, dog by-laws and my favourite, put forth by Gloria, renaming HRM to possibly Greater Halifax. These folks make $76,000 and the current owner of the fancy chain makes $146,000.
I think there are issues of far greater importance to the taxpayers than this. Crime is still a big concern, public transit, downtown upgrades, and a host of other matters. Downsizing to 16 isn’t enough, get the shears out and do some drastic pruning. —Ed

When the premier can spin off an entity that used to be paid out of general revenue, as a “non governmental entity” and then force everyone to pay a tax on the bottom of their power bill to pay for them – it’s official – we live in a nanny state. And we will keep bending over for more, apparently. Anyone else ready for pitchforks and molotovs??
I heard that one female councilor lives in public housing yet she’s pulling in $76,000 as being a council member? Christ, for $76,000 you could buy a whole neighborhood of public housing buildings, or pay for a wack of abortions to control the poor people population.

Why do people think that reducing council size is going to have any effect on what our council is going to bicker about when they you keep electing the same stupid people every four years?
“I didn’t want to pay for it… I just wanted it brought up” was essentially what was said about why they’re wasting time on it….
