  1. Ah, yes…I know of the cab company you speak. The cabs in Halifax are ATROCIOUS. With said cab company, I called them once and waited with a cart full of groceries for an hour…come to find out, when I called and finally got back through to them, that THEY DIDN’T HAVE RECORD OF ME CALLING. When my cab finally showed up, the driver told me he couldn’t help me with my groceries because his arm was sore (even though it seemed fine when he was driving with cell phone in one hand and other hand barely on the steering wheel)…popped the trunk at my apartment building and stayed in the car whilst I hauled the bags out of the trunk onto the sidewalk. Now, I always tip well for the extra help…guess he didn’t need it. I’ve also got in a cab and asked to go to Dartmouth and have been flat out asked to get out of the cab, they don’t go to Dartmouth. I’ve gone from using this sorry excuse for a cab company to a certain sunshine color cab company…and in my opinion, MUCH better service.

  2. I say we boycott the “company in question”. I know I’ll never use them again.Sunshiney seems a far better colour

  3. Yes, they definitely are not the fast ones! They are not actually allowed to say they don’t go to Dartmouth I definitely would complain to anyone who would listen. Just for your info if your from Dartmouth and going back home you can call a Dartmouth cab and they are allowed to pick you up if they are on their way back home and they wont charge you bridge fair

  5. Thanks. It really pees me off. I can catch a cab from the company “as near as your phone” (if my phone is in Cape Breton) and they’ll take me to Spryfield but not Dartmouth?WTF? I was only going to right around the downtown anyway so it’s probably less distance. They could have made a quick fare and been back on Barrington.

  6. yep had the same thing happen- only once they got over the bridge they claimed they couldn’t go any further and dropped me at the Holiday Inn, I was so pissed I called the the dispatcher and put in a complaint, i explained i would be calling back to see how far this complaint was taken. I called and they had no record, so i complained again and said i would be calling back to see what had transpired this time I had the name of the supervisor that I spoke w/, when I called back 3 days later, i was told that both did not work for the company anymore! I have not seen that driver since, now I don’t know if it was true and I hope I wasn’t the nail in his coffin, however so be it, people need to be held accountable. I have also been driven home – Halifax- in a cab – and everytime the driver turned around he breathd booze on me- complained big time that day! school was getting out so you can imagen if he hit some kid! I think if we always remember cab numbers and call with complaints as soon as they transpire this is the only way things might get better- OR maybe some reporter can do an exposee on shitty cab drivers! another thing throw a shit fit if they are on their cell phones- it’s your safety- I refuse to be put in a dangeous situation just cause their “girlfriend ” needs a pack of smokes! they are suppose to take a Hospitality certification course – although i doubt they do this anymore.

  7. Now I’m all sure we are talking about Casino taxi, that’s fine, but on a more general note, why are there always bitches about “some coffee place” “a certain clothing store” etc. It’s an anonymous forum. If you want people to change behavior and have your bitch count, start narrowing things down, name some names. It’s the only way people will change.

  8. Ive named names before and they’ve been either edited out or not put in so i stick with hinting around about the obvious

  9. I got a cab to my apartment in Clayton Park about two years ago from said cab company. It was late at night but I was not drunk. I paid the guy something like $17 cash from my wallet, got out, went upstairs, then noticed my wallet wasn’t in my hand so figured I dropped it walking upstairs. I immediately darted out the door scanning the hallway floor, lobby floor and front steps. It could’ve only fallen so far and I would’ve seen it if it was there, so my only conclusion was that it fell onto the cab floor as I was getting out the door. It was late and I hadn’t seen another person walking in my building who may have picked it up. I called the cab number and explained all this. I described the driver in rather good detail (he had a few distinguishing traits that would separate him from many) and was told there was no staff working for them which fit that description. I hadn’t gotten the car’s number. I called back again the next day and spoke with someone else, they couldn’t help me at all. In retrospect I should’ve asked for a superior (if there is one), but just that incident alone has caused me to never use that company again, even if it is the only cab I can grab on street. And whatever one I do get in, I make a conscious effort to look for its number, or read as much of the driver info as possible. Luckily there wasn’t too much in my wallet, just the nuisance of having to replace my license, bank card and work ID.

  10. WOW- weird about the wallet – same thing happened only within the 5 minutes it took to call CASINO the dispatcher told me the women had taken me as her last call and was in eastern passage and the only way she give it to me was to pay a $17 fare! there was NO way she had even made it off the bridge! I was calling from the Plaza on Duke ST … she was back in less than the time it took me to Hang up the phone get on the evelator and wait down at the door for 5 minutes- Eastern Passage my ass! I just should never have paid the bitch but I wanted my wallet back.

  12. I don’t go downtown anymore because I don’t want to have to wander the streets trying to hail a cab along with throngs of others rushing to get in front of me while feeling like a target for criminals. Then when I finally get a car to stop and he says I can’t go to Waverley. I don’t get to see a lot of bands for this reason which is a shame because I’d like to support the local music scene.

  13. I’ve never had a problem dealing with this cab company, ever. The drivers are always courteous, and honest. There was a time, some years ago, that I would go downtown, get drunk, and then somehow drop my wallet in the cab after I had paid. This happened at LEAST 3 times. Every single time, the company said they had my wallet, all I had to do was pick it up. Money was always still inside. So, maybe you should complain to the company every time you get a bad cabbie, because that will only improve things – I hope. I’ve never really had cause to complain.

  14. Halifax Taxi companies arent the only bad ones the big dartmouth one has a bunch of loser prick drivers who have zero personal skills and zilch for customer service skills tey are rude lazy and dont understand walkways and front entrances are for people to walk on not for u fat lazy toothless slobs to park ur boats on….ur all a bunch of SORRY LOSERS!!

  15. Please tell me we are talking about Casino cabs.. everytime i call the rude lady says “casino cab” and i politely tell her where to send a cab and she hangs up in my ear. then i wait approxamately 25 minutes for this shitty cab with scarry old men driving that reek of B.O. They also drive like maniacs

  16. i like it when the guy with the run down car picks me up. The guy whose car seems like any minute will collapse. The driver is so off his rocker that no matter what you say, even if its only”hows your day going” he thinks your making fun of his car. Then he talks nonsense and starts acting like hes going to drive off the bridge and take you with him.Thats always fun. Everytime I get into his cab I think “I should write up my will soon.”

  17. Yeah definilty the same cab company that brought me to dartmouth and dropped me off @ the bridge but wouldnt bring me the rest of the way up victoria road. then the buses had stopped, so i couldnt walk through norht end dartmouth by myself @ 1am on a saturday night, so i called back, they wouldnt come pick me up and told me to call the dartmouth cab, which i did, they wouldnt answer the phone… so i called back, they agreed to pick me up, but only to go back into halifax… in which case i did, and had to find a place to go in halifax so i wasnt stuck in north end dartmouth. fantastic customer service isnt it. i will never call that company again.

  18. I know that the cab companys in this city are horrible..I had a cab driver who insisted on telling us about a party he went to the night before where he says he stayed up all night “haveing a nice hit of a hibig 8 ball” now thats what we have driving in this city and they act like they rule the road..Something really needs to be done about stricker cab rules
