Take a bit of time to learn about her and her accomplishments from her days as a mechanic and a driver in World War II, to consulting with the Prime Minister and other Heads of State.

For those of you MORONS who don’t get it, are to stupid to look into it (or to lazy) here’s a simple version.
With a Constitutional Monarchy, we have a head of State (at this time a queen) who is 100% apolitical. Which isn’t possible if we had a system where we had a President as Head of State & a Prime Minister.
Why you really stupid ones may ask?
It’s because an elected President will always be onside with whichever Political Party got him into his Presidency.
Also with a HoS (Head of State) who isn’t involveds with any Political Party, they show no favoritism. They are concerned with all Canadians & the rule of Law will not dramatically be altered just because a different Political Party takes over power.
Also under our system the HoS cannot rule the country. If the Ruling Party falls, she has to call an election & We legal voting age Canadians pick the next group of rip off artis…ooops I mean Politicians. But IMO what we really need to change is, I believe we need an elected Senate, having people appointed by the Prime Minister who can serve until their 75 just isn’t democratic enough .
Finally to keep this short, just look at other CommonWealth Countries that split from having the Queen & went with a President & Prime Minister , Zimbabwe & Fiji.
One is now a dictatorship & the other is a 3rd World hell hole with an economy in complete ruins, so bad that they use the currency of other Nations inside their borders…because not even their own citizens will accept Zimbabwean Dollars for anything !

What’s so terrible about paying respect to our country’s heritage. I think it would be a horrible loss to cut ourselves off from all that. In fact, the way Harper has been conducting business, this country could learn a little civility from the Queen.
Well, I’m glad someone said it. More, you are bang on there. I would just like to add that Elizabeth is not just the Queen of England. She is also the Queen of Canada. That’s right, Queen of Canada (http://www.pch.gc.ca/eng/1266245566496) and we even have a Canadian Royal Family.
Personally, I would like one of the members of the Canadain Royal Family come and live in Canada to be our Head of State instead of an appointed Governer General.
To those out there who say we need to get rid of the Queen (or the Crown in general), do you realize that Canada has been under the rule of a King or Queen since 1534? It’s not as simple as saying “Ok, that’s it. Let’s be a republic tomorrow.” I like the seperation of Head of State vs. Head of Government.

The Crown does not have the rule of law. They are Head of State, not the Head of Government. In Canada these postitions are seperate. If we get rid of the Crown and become a republic, the Head of State and Head of Government become one.
Yes you can become part of the Royal Family. Anyone can, you just have to marry into it. Would it be easier to become a politician and work your way to the top? Who knows? Both have their challenges.
What is 21st century is that the Crown is no longer Head of Government. This allows anyone to be in charge. The Crown is a figurehead. Simple. Having a republic would cost more than it does to have the Crown as HoS.

I would like to point out except for France & the USA the rest of the Worlds Republic’s are not running quite as smooth (& what’s happening financially in the US, isn’t all that smooth IMO)
A constitutional Monarchy, with a HoS who is with us for years has, in our case been beneficial. We cannot say that about all the elected MP’s over the years. Our HoS does not interfer with our government & if your rabidly against the Queen & this system…The unelected Senate must drive you near postal when you think about it…if your capable of that much depth of thought.
