  1. This has been a peeve of mine for years. I completely understand owners of residential properties not wanting a parade of strangers traipsing through their yards. But what is the purpose of a fence between two parking lots? Maybe I’m a little paranoid, but it seems to me that there is a lot of infrastructure whose only purpose is to impede pedestrian traffic. There’s a growing dichotomy in the minds of business and government between “pedestrians” and “vehicles”. Vehicle traffic is desirable, and is to be accomodated at almost any cost. Pedestrian traffic is a nuisance, and is to be tolerated if neccessary and thwarted if possible.

  2. I second that Miranda. Also I agree 100%. They put up a fence behind cosco and walmart to keep peds from cutting through the parking lot. Why? They have the crosswalk there to cross the highway on ramp, but they want you to have to walk all the way around into Bayers Lake. They could have put a sidewalk up the other side and along that path into the parking lot to make it easier for peds to get into the park. But nope. Too bad for those who choose to walk, and those that have no choice but to walk. Although it doesn’t surprise me. Continually talking out their asses. We talk all green, but do nothing to actually improve the problem. ie…Why can you still NOT cross the circ to get from Highfield park to Burnside??? There’s a ped way going across up further in Woodlawn. There’s one on Victoria road for Christ sake and there are crosswalks to cross there!! I could rage all day on here today, but I gotta finish up my shopping…I am slack this year!!

  3. The fence behind the lameness that used to be bayers roady shopping centre may have something to do with train tracks? *Dodges angry tomatoes and other insults from rage infested posters*

  4. A friend of mine had a wonderful solution to the fence problem between West End Mall and Olivette St. directly behind it. He simply went to Wallymart, purchased a set of bolt cutters, went behind the store and cut the hole he required to get through the fence, then returned to Wallymart and took full advantage of their return policy.Stick it to the man AND get your pedestrian needs fufilled in one easy step.

  5. There have been so many holes cut into this fence, they are fast to repair them. And I am sure some of the reason the fence is there is because of the train tracks. With care and common sense, no one should be injured or killed there. And the ones the do, Darwinism.
