Ok – the first few were funny. Now that there is a custom tagline that basically sums up the title of the bitch – it has lost all impact. If anything, it gives me more to read without giving me any more information. As a writer, I have always been taught that you tell your reader what they want to hear in clean, concise headlines and copy. Enough with the red annoying “Let’s just reword the title” taglines please.

ccccan’t sssstop tagging. Well, I could. I can if there is an overwhelming desire to. There was a suggestion the other day that we tag everything or everything that is a recurring bitch theme and then have a component on the right hand side to rate the most read and/or most assigned tag. So, responding to readers requests I built that. Now, if you click on the orange tag it should bring you a list of all the previous bitches with that tag. It gives added functionality. As for the names of them… I am completely up for suggestions and ideas. So is this another idle bitch? Let the mob decide!
I like the tags Andy. They often make ann uninteresting bitch better. Keep it up dude!
some of the tags are hilarious… keep it up!
I don’t think it’s a big deal – I just don’t read the tags most of the time anyway. I feel like maybe they had a bit more impact when there were like, 2 categories, so the tags weren’t being used all the time. But the archived categories could probably be useful if you were looking for a particular bitch.
I agree the jokey ones wear thin quickly and work better if it’s a once in a while thing.
I think a good compromise would be to stick to the standard 5-6 tag categories and just change the title of the tag to something new and humorous every now and then. Like “another smoking bitch” becomes “addicts vs fascists” and next week the same category could be called something else. I don’t know if it’s as easy as that or not, but it would allow andy to be creative and entertaining and still keep all the smoking bitches together.
They are funny, I like Miles’ plan. And the Top Topics addition is great Andy!
Keep up the tags! At first I was a little overwhelmed, but eventually, you adjust.
“Tags” are like diminishing font size in newsprint….editors have known for years that some people will only read the first few lines anyway, and so the font size decreases as the article progresses…
Really, tags are the last bastion…many of you are lost within the first few lines of a lengthy post anyway, and skip to the ‘tag’, hoping to read some witty quote from Voltaire, Churchill or even Gilbert Godfried…
“”Why not skip reading altogether, and admit you only use the Coast for movie-times”” – fRosTy, 2009
Why not a simple, “Filed under: The Coast Sucks!” at the end of the post, instead of a bright annoying red rectangle?
i love them….they always give me a chuckle. The best was “crotch fruit” on the “Just stop and think for like one second every now and then…jeez!” bithch but it was removed 🙁 I damn near spit my coffee out when i read that one!
To be truthful, I don’t even look at them. I guess I’m from the old school of substance over headline.
WTF??!! Tim’s not here anymore??? WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Oh yeah Tim’s still here… Just that Andy has taken over the reign of LTWWB.
Unfortunately half or better of the comments I make here get deleted, many that never would have been deleted in the old days…. Oh well… Guy’s got a job to do I guess…
I just deleted one of the two comments FLoyd made.
Just a thought Andy, but why not let the people decide what is a good or bad comment… As much as the drivel that gets posted on the CBC site pales by comparison to a good day on the coast, I do like it that you can vote up or down on the comments and a running tab is kept for each comment… That way only the most egregious comments would need to be deleted…
I know you were recently looking for suggestions, so that might be one to consider… Thanks.
Actually that’s not a bad idea andy. One of the thumb up/down things might be fun. Maybe an “OK” hand and a “middle finger” hand.
Floyd, are you saying the CBC drivel pales in comparison to our drivel? I feel bad now. I was just messin’ taking down that comment. But the JPE post you made yesterday I thought went out of bounds for sounding too personal. ANYWAY: We will have a comments rating system in the next couple months. Just waiting for the web company to finish testing it. I definitely would prefer a self-policing system. There are some crazy bitches that never get the light of day and some of the OTT racist, sexist troll commenters I don’t really feel the need to be considerate to. Know what’s hard tho? I need to be harder on the restaurant reviews and other editorial than the ltwwb because they have different mandates. Finding that balance is tough. But in general I will try to take a light(er) approach (from now on) in the bitch section and if you think I am being heavy handed, email me or complain here, that’s fine.
I like the Daily Kos’ rating system of recommending and hiding comments, as well as the stories themselves.
PS I like the tags. “Tedious and uninteresting” is my favorite. I’d love to see more, like “Seriously, this guy again???” or “Please stop submitting bitches. For the love of god, just. please. stop.” or “AARRGGHH, my brain is bleeding! Leave me aloooone!!!”
I like the tags. The additional layer of bitchiness really enhances the LTWWB experience.
Props for changing the tags. Looks much better!
