I visited the swiss chalet on november18/07 at 5:54pm. I ordered the Festive Special. I ordered it for the first time ever simply due to the Delicious commercial on TV. Buyer beware. This meal was nothing as such. My meal was a substandard meal I would not even serve as Hospital food. My stuffing was cold yellow mash shaped like an ice-cream scoop. Not a flowing fluffy colourful mix as the commercial portrays. The chicken, which I paid more for white meat, was subwarm. The chicken skin was cool enough it started to look like my fingers after several hours in the pool. Not only was the food poor quaility, I was not served my gravy with my meal which was reconmended, the sauce that came was the salad dressing. The replacement potatos came too hot that scolded my mouth and was too late to enjoy with the rest of my meal due to the slow service. To top it off, the treat of 5 Lindt chocolates were not brought to the table until they were asked for twice. I completed a survey that was posted on the bottom of my receipt, provided all my personal information and have yet to hear a reply apologizing for the poor quality of food and service. ALSO I also contacted the www and have yet to hear from them to solve this matter. I strongly urge all not to eat or visit SWiss Chalet for it has been 11days, 40dollars later, and a disappointing meal. This company has been sent 4emails and ARE NOT COMMITED TO CUSTOMER Satisfaction.

Wants my meal paid for!

  1. My mother, sisters and I go for lunch (quarter chicken dinner…yum!!!) once every few months or so, and always enjoy it; there’s never been a problem with the food or the service. It’s too bad that you had a crappy experience and if I were you in that instance I might’ve expected some sort of discount as well. But perhaps you should’ve spoken to a server directly, before leaving the restaurant, instead of writing your complaint on a comment slip which may or may not have been read. And to put it mildly, you do sound a bit whingy! It’s not as if you were having dinner at the Four Seasons or the Rainbow Room; Swiss Chalet is a casual restaurant. I’m sorry your burned your mouth on the potatoes, but perhaps you should’ve blown on them, as mashed potatoes are normally served hot. As for having to ask for your Lindt chocolates twice before recieving, well is that really such a big deal?? $40 isnt that bad for a family meal, just chalk it up to a bad experience and eat somewhere else then.

  2. Oh, come on, Swiss Chalet is overpriced swill. I don’t think this poster is whiny in the least – she received horrible service and garbage substituting for food. I would have spoken to the manager about it IMMEDIATELY. Don’t bank on e-mail complaints, WMMPF, you have to address these concerns while you’re there.

  3. Sorry there Ellbee, but when one of the complaints was about the stuffing being ‘shaped like an ice-cream scoop’ and another one is that the potatoes burned his or her mouth, it’s getting a bit silly! And I dont think $10 for a meal is overpriced especially when noting that a large sized Big Mac meal is about $7!

  4. Sorry, I disagree. When me and my sig other go there to order ‘the $10 meal’, it costs us $45-$50 before we walk out of the place (include coffees, desert and tip). I’m afraid I’ve had too many subpar, mediocre meals there, especially at the one on Kempt Road. The only thing the original poster is guilty of is believing those television advertisements. I could give he/she a crash course in food art, i.e. that lovely piece of golden chicken on the screen is barely cooked and has been ‘painted’ because it doesn’t look quite as good when fully cooked, et al.

  5. I’m just wondering if this all dine in experience? The one time I got take out from there was a horrid horrid experience, but I order online from them every once in a while and have never had a problem. Food arrives in like 20 – 30 mins… and the food is good for what it is. Cept for their chicken wrap. It is unreal bad. Never had a worse wrap in my life.

  6. Carnate is right about the inconsistent service from the local Swiss Chalets…up until recently I lived with roommates that LOVED the SWIESS as we called it and literally every second time they ordered…the order was completely messed up or sub-par. The only reason they kept ordering was for the times they got it right…it was great then!

  7. I usually eat in, and although a few times there may have been a mistake made with an order, a free desert or discount was always given to us. I’m not saying their customer service or food quality is exceptional or anything, just that for the kind of place it is, (a few steps up from KFC maybe), I love an occassional fix and have rarely been dissapointed there 🙂

  8. OMIGAWD I’ve never been to a worse restaurant. I ate at the one on Lacewood once and I’ll never enter another Swiss Chalet again. Sub standard food, service, and restaurant. Save your $40.00 and go to a grocery store and buy a loaf of store baked French bread, a tomato, a couple of slices of honey ham, some swiss cheese (fresh), a few sprigs of parsley and some fresh fruit for a fruit dish afterwards. Cut the bread and dab each slice with butter, put a slice of ham on it, and then a thin slice of tomato. Lay the cheese on top and put the slices under the broiler for 10 minutes. Make up a fresh fruit plate and enjoy with a nice glass of Shiraz. A meal fit for a king and a hell of a lot healthier than Swiss Chalet garbage.
