Hang ten, HRM, because according to the twitterfeed and a local Facebook page a surfing apparel company is currently planning on hosting its Cold Water Classic event in Nova Scotia this fall and has requested $200,000 from Halifax Regional Municipality. HRM has pre-approved to fund the event with $145,000 (coincidentally the event’s prize money—a requirement to be sanctioned by the ASP World Tour). We’re on the hook supporting a private business. What. The. Fuck. —Cranky

  1. WHy not support it.
Its not like its their money…its our money & they have no problem wasting it.
The problem as I see it, is the majority of people here vote these bozo’s in again & again.
So you’re getting what you deserve, (higher taxes & constant wasteful spending) unfortunately the rest of us are getting shafted, even though we tried to vote for change.

People I believe its time for a new philosify on electing Public
    “servants” AKA – our Masters.
Never vote the incumbant back in.-period- NEVER.

  2. fucking kelly strikes again, with another dumb fucking idea. goddamn it man, wake the fuck up peter. you can’t be doing this stupid shit all the time.

  3. Why do we never hear about these votes until after a decision is made cranky? (Honest question no sarcasm)

  4. because at the end they all chant in unison… “no takebacks”…
after which it is released. It’s unchangeable at that point.

  5. I usually read the council agendas beforehand to keep abreast of what’s going on. For anybody that cares, this is Uteck’s baby.

If you want to keep ahead of the game (for no reason other than to brace yourself for future bullshit) you can go here: http://www.halifax.ca/council/agendasc/cag… and click on Regional Council to see the agenda for an upcoming meeting. Or you can peruse minutes of older ones.

For this particular item you can read the documents leading up to it: http://www.halifax.ca/council/agendasc/doc…

    Have fun, and happy times.
