So we get together at a Chinese restaurant for mom’s birthday. You’re not so stupid as to not fucking know that mom is a recovering alcoholic. We all wanted to give mom a nice family gathering with no booze but nooooo you have to show up and order beer. You’re just a stupid cunt, sister, who has no feelings for anyone but herself let alone her own, sweet mother. I hope your fucking guts rot and fall out for all of the abuse you’ve treated your body with! You’re a poor excuse for a human being and a waste of the planet’s oxygen. Have fun rotting in hell, sister! I’ll piss on ya to put the flames out. —Really Starting to Hate My Sister

Sounds like your sister likes her beer, just like her sweet mama did. I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Judging by your reaction, it sounds like the whole family is a wee bit dysfunctional.
Still, if your mom wants to truly recover, she’s going to run across it from time to time.
Showing a firm resistance is definitely something…assuming that’s how it played out.
What’s YOUR problem OB. Unless your sis offered your mother one, then there is no problem. Do you expect everyone to stop drinking just because your mother can’t handle it? BTW there is no such thing as a recovering alcoholic. They either drink or they don’t. The only “recovery” is the first week or so while the body rids itself of the alcohol. After that, it is just a decision not to drink.
I agree with Snubiz, I’d also say the family is dysfunctional, but I can’t spell it so I’ll just call you a shower of Munters
Your mom is going to be exposed to alcohol everywhere she goes…billboards, advertisements, the person sitting at the next table, etc. Whether or not she chooses to indulge is up to her. If your sister wanted to have a beer with her meal, who are you to tell her she can’t? Part of recovery is learning to function in situations where you may encounter your drug/drink of choice. Should she not watch television, because it may show someone tossing back a shot of tequila?
Did you at least say something to her beforehand or just expect her to read your mind? I’m guessing the latter.
OB , get bent !
At least she didn’t order a rum & coke !
Your sister may well be stupid, and it sounds like she’s at the very least insensitive, but the final decision to drink lays solely in your mothers hands. In fact, if this was a problem, your mother could have easily asked that there be no alcohol at the table. But she didn’t, so I can only assume it wasn’t a big a problem as you’re making it out to be.
What a fucking drama douche – take a chill pill, OP, you can’t protect a recovering alcoholic from reality.
gee o.p., don’t hold it in, let it out. fuck, you could have at least waited til your mom was home, and your sister was alone. way to be col baby.
Overreact much OP? Got a feeling that sis is really Mom’s favourite.
OP Alcoholism is your mother’s reality; a world with alcohol in it, is reality… Your sister is right not to coddle her,she is protecting your mother not you.
I see why your mom drank. She had to put up with you.
No wonder your mother drank herself into oblivion while raising the likes of you ….. fuck, at least with you out of the picture she can put the cork on the bottle!
…with you both in the picture your mother will have a lot of corks(from the booze) to shove in your mouths.
Does dear old Mom get slutty when she’s polluted?
I would bet a dollar to a donut that many of the ‘dislikes’ are from the stupid, stupid asshole OB!
I’m sorry Hezz, but you failed to take inflation into account.

Good point zZz! My father said that 20 years ago, and continues to use it today. Guess it’s time to break the news to the ol’ man lol
alcohol is a fact of life. It’s not your sister’s fault your mom is an alcoholic and she shouldn’t have to entirely alter her lifestyle just because your mom is in recovery. It’s not your sister’s fault your mom is a boozer. It’s her fault.
That being said, your sister ordering a beer? Not the most thoughtful thing to do. But your reaction implies to me that you have a rage problem. Sounds like a big happy obsessive-compulsive family to me.
