What is wrong with your real cards? They are covered against unauthorized transactions…… go ahead, use them online instead of these rip-off cards.
Some people don’t have ‘real’ cards.
Having a credit card isn’t a necessity of life and some of us don’t have any use for them.
I don’t have credit cards. I got rid of mine some years ago and I’m making out just fine.
And no, I don’t have bad credit.
Hate to say it OB, but maybe you should have done some further checking into this website to determine if they take pre-paid cards or not BEFORE you went and bought one. (Although, for the life of me, I don’t know why it wouldn’t be accepted as it’s pre-paid. It’s not debt and there is no risk to them.) Buyer beware I guess.
Can’t you pay via your bank account if you don’t have a credit card?
i don’t think you can rent a car without a credit card, hmm?
Is the bitch editor off today?
PK I’ve NEVER had a credit card. I don’t WANT a credit card. I’m an avid traveler and i’ve NEVER needed one yet (though it’s a juggle, i’ll say that..)
Shopping online is a giant bucket of fail though. It’s frustrating.
I have, as one colourfully verbose bank official described it, “The credit of a 5 year old”. And damned proud of it. I refuse to acknowledge the rules of a dumb system that says you can only be a responsible citizen if you’re mired in debt. It’s a trick. A stupid game that i refuse to play.
Go to money mart or one of those places and get an actual mastercard that you can reload. It’s only 11.00 per year and you don’t have to put your real credit cards online. I use it and have never had anyone refuse it. I think the problem with those prepaids is that there is no name on the card.
I KNOW! If you don’t have a ton of consumer debt you’re somehow a failure and there MUST be something wrong with you!
Um… excuse me for wanting to pay cash for my purchases. I paid cash for my macbook, I paid cash for my iphone, I paid cash for my Wii i bought this weekend and I’m paying cash for the television I’m buying over xmas break. I owe nothing on any of that shit (except the iphone contract which is added to the phone bill).
I might have to wait a few months longer, but when I bring something home I have the satisfaction of knowing that it’s paid for and I don’t owe anything on it.
No consumer debt = my paycheque is mine, not VISA’s = freedom.
Good for you PK. Your very smart. Credit card debt is the biggest evil. Some people will never get out of it.
Try Zoompass
Or PayPal
you can’t use pre-paid credit cards for SHIT. Didn’t yo momma tell you that?
Get a payment card … accepted like a credit card but the funds come directly out of your account after the purchase has been completed. I don’t have one, but know lots who have these instead of a credit card. I also don’t know if banks have these, but a lot of credit unions offer them.
Actually, that’s not true. I use Pre-paid credit cards for pretty much everything online. I even use it for my netflix account. The only place I had problems with was Telus, and I ditched them anyway.
And as for the extra fee — most people pay A LOT more in interest and card fees anyway. With the way a lot of people spend on ther credit cards, I highly doubt they’re paying their cards off every month. And I also believe that a lot of those who cpaim they do are lying through their teeth.
Could have been worse OP, it could have happened to me…
haha, good one mr blue. an all purpose response
just what i do get a credit card avoid the extra fees dont buy something on it unless you can pay it immediately pay it over never pay interest collect the reward points and get a free 100 dollar gift card to empire or futureshop every 6 months. EVERYTHING goes on my credit card even rent and i have never paid a cent of interest.
Online stores rarely accept prepaid visa cards, especially in Canada. And if they do you have to make sure it covers the entire price which can be a pain.
Have you activated the card via the website OP? And why am I thinking pr0n site?
OB, use a normal credit card. Why would you pay for one? Foolish.
I didn’t get past “I just paid $30 for a fucking $25 prepaid credit card”.
This high finance just goes right over my head.
A credit card is a high interest loan. Nothing more. Some of my friends have 20,000 in credit card debt, I have none. We lead remarkably similar lives…I just have slightly less, older stuff. Works for me.
FUUUUUUCK there is so much idiocy in this thread.
*shakes head*
Some of you really have no fucking clue.
why the hell would you buy a wii now?!?!?!?
they already announced their new system coming out next year….
and it plays the wii games.
anyways… those prepaids are a fucking hastle.
I’m sure they serve some purpose…
but none I’m interested in.
I bought a Wii now because I have little interest in the new console, number one, and number two it’s going to be expensive as fuck.
I got this one cheap and tax free, and I wanted one NOW, so eh.
by the time you buy any new tech device, it’s obsolete
and the new tech devices are always much more expensive. A friend of mine bought an iPhone 4 AFTER the 4S came out because she didn’t think paying 100 extra bucks for a phone that does pretty much the same things was worth it.
suit yourself…
though I hope you didn’t spend more than 100 bucks for it…
theyz gonna be dirt cheap pretty quickly.
nintendo with a touchscreen peripheral, motion sensing, and high def graphics….
that has every kid with a wii getting nightly wet dreams just thinking about it.
The controller’s an absolute brick, though. http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Techno…
the boy always invited me to play his games with him, but he knew i had been sucked into the original mario nintendo vortex. before he was born, we had lost mario weekends and then we finally got the game genie. i know if i pick up any controller device, i might become lost for all time
its a tablet with controls, essentially.
like a larger Vita which BTW seems pretty popular.
http://blogs.ocweekly.com/heardmentality/p…
it’s basically tethering a handheld to the console….
WHEN YOU WANT TO.
It can be completely separate, or so they claim… where you can play a game on the tab and parents watch the boob tube.
which is basically like advancing the PSP ->PS3 tethering that no-one currently uses.
Hopefully they learn from Sony’s mistake and get it right.
it’ll be interesting to say the least.
I didn’t pay more than $100 for the console and it was on sale tax free.
Plus, like 195 mentioned — I wasn’t a fan of the controller anddddd the thought of paying 250-300 for a game console was ‘eh’
Why pay that kind of money when I”m just going to use the same controllers/games I can use on a system that cost me 1/3 the price?
Honestly, I’d still play my NES if I had all the cords for it, and I’m using my PRE PAID CREDIT CARD to purchase some NES games on the system. 🙂
Shop Local
let me know which cord it is and I’ll see if I still have one kicking around.
you should totally NOT wii homebrew that thing and download all the games for free….
that would be EVIL and take an agonizing 10 minutes to complete.
Most places sell gift cards for live, go buy one of those with your credit card.
some clerks give the prepaid credit card a bad name through their ignorance.
I had a $75 dollar purchase that I wanted to make with a $50 prepaid and cash. the clerk kept trying to send me away because the prepaid wasn’t working. However, it wasn’t the prepaid card that was at fault, it was the clerk.
She was trying to process the prepaid card before processing the cash. Too fucking dumb to realize that a $50 card will get rejected on a $75 request.
Same thing happened to me at the movies. Didn’t even have enough left for a soda.
