The government is riddled with these incompetent, self-serving jerkwads called managers who couldn’t organize a piss-up in a brewery. And the money they make for being OCD arse puckers is obscene. All on the taxpayers’ dime.

A manager’s main concern is usually with keeping an even keel in the workplace. So, as long as you aren’t seen as a threat to office harmony (by doing your job competently and not being a nuisance) they usually will treat you okay. On the flip side, I was an acting manager for a brief period and hated every minute of it. Every workplace seems to have at least one problem employee who brings down the morale and is a pain to deal with. He/she often does as little work as possible, take off as much time as possible, and, worst of all, has so many gripes and personal issues it makes your head spin. So maybe the OBs boss is having to deal with one or more of those types. It would make me surly too.
