To the stupid man bicycling in Burnside the other day who cut off a truck while driving ILLEGALLY down the sidewalk and then through a crosswalk causing him to slam on his breaks and me to have nowhere to go but into the back of the truck… THANKS. No really I truly do enjoy having to pay for the damages to my vehicle, any to the truck. And knowing that you are the cause and that your illegal actions have NO impact on you while I have thousands of dollars of damage to my car REALLY made my week. Thanks again for being an inconsiderate ass who caused an accident and did not even stick around after the fact. It is because of people like you that bicyclists get such a bad rep. —Ticked Off Motorist

Shouldn’t have been tailing the truck so close. That’s why legally it’s your fault.
While the bicyclist was being a total douche, you were also clearly following too close, so in the end, the fact that you hit the truck was your fault, not the bicyclist’s.
I agree with tommy and abc on this one, you were following too close for sure. On a side note though, I hate it when I read bitches written by a cyclist when they get cut off or almost run over, etc by a car, and than they say that they are going to report the license plate to the police. Well what about all the countless times I see a cyclist run a stop light, ride on the sidewalk, swipe a pedestrian, go the wrong way on a one way street, ride their bike across a crosswalk, etc. Where is their license plate so I can call the cops on them? Sometimes I get the feeling that their are alot of cyclists out there who find that it is their job to report every little infraction to the police. Little do they relize though, this is the HRM, nothing is going to be done about it.
It’s true m_kegg. They want to share the road but not the responsibilities. You should need a license to ride a bicycle in traffic, and a license plate. Otherwise they can do whatever they want.
Actually your not suppose to slam on your brakes. So the truck in front stopping short to avoid hitting a bicycle could have used that speaking to police about “what caused the accident”
Because it isn’t a “law” that who ever rear ends someone is at fault & if you go to court “comparative negligence” if proven, could lessen your responsibility (how much you have to pay) If you were able to have witnesses collaborate your side of the story, or if you had the bike driver, you’d have a better chance.
But I do agree, bike riders for the most part around the HRM are trying to kill themselves … they just want someone else to do them in !
Stop tailgating, you could have hurt someone.
leave space and you will be safe!! young drivers 4 life.
a RED truck by some chance?
Witnessed a cyclist this morning, this suicidal fucking genius came flying, and I mean flying, from the top of the hill by Chebucto Ford straight down the hill between the rows of cars waiting for the light, through a red, and half way up the hill. Idiot, all it took was one half asleep moron to decide he wanted a Timmys, or a door flung open from a lit smoke on the seat, and you were fucked up for life, or dead. All for what, so you can gear down and peddle your sorry ass up the other side of the hill. Fuckin nutwad.
This bitch should be called “Stupid OP”
The truck driver the right to panic stop to save the life of a cyclist.
YOU should allow enough space in front of your vehicle for any emergency stop that may happen.
there be fresh roadkill soon son, says the raccoon daddy, to his kids. see ,the crows in the trees, with their knives and forks already.

I’d love to redo that Larson cartoon with the vultures, except theyd be clustered around a trashed fixie and one would be wearing black plastic framed glasses saying “Look at me, I’m a hipster. I can remember when this carrion had integrity”
lol…I was looking for an older Larson toon that I had seen a few years back…I think it was titled “What crows dream about”, or something like that. It showed a crow fast asleep, a big, content grin on his face and in his dream bubble was the same crow standing on the roadside, about to tuck into a flattened elephant complete with tire tracks….lol, But, I couldn’t find it. I less than 3 the Far Side.
