Why is it that some coworkers think they have the right to insult you to your face and then get ticked off if you react to their bitchiness? My day started off totally shitty today. A coworker basically insulted me and then got pissed when I reacted and called them on their rudeness. Set the tone for the entire day. Give me a fucking a break. I just don’t get some people think they have the right to shit all over someone and then are surprised when someone stands up for themself. This person in no way is a supervisor or senior and really that shouldn’t matter anyway. Basic respect should be a given in the workplace.

This isn’t the first time this I’ve seen this person do this. I’ve seen them in action a few times and a few other coworkers have complained about that person. Problem is management doesn’t do a thing about it. Anyway I’m not going to let this jerk railroad me again. And I’m not quitting. But guess who will not be getting any favours from me from now on and just the minimum office courtesy. Plus to add to this bitch, this person stinks. Literally. Some kind of scent they wear every day. Makes me want to gag. Can smell it down the hallway. —You Get More Flies with Honey

  1. Bullies don’t expect to get called out on their behavior. That’s why he/she reacted in a pissy manner.Good for you OP, keep up the good work maybe it will help turn this person around.
On a more depressing note, I heard on the news this morning that obnoxious people earn, on average, 18% more than nice people with the same qualifications. I guess it’s true about the squeaky wheel.

  2. it doesn’t matter if he called you every fucking name in the book, ethically you should place the needs of your employer above your needs. STFU and file a complaint.

You turned an inappropriate act from 1 employee into a 2 way dispute. Thats all that you accomplished

  3. GV, he said management doesn’t do anything anyway. So where do you think that complaint will end up?
I think he did the right thing, put the clown in his place. He also might set an example for other employees, who might push back against this guy. It might just end up with a more harmonized work environment and better productivity.

  4. I could give a rats ass where the complaint would end up, I have a reputation of integrity, cooperation, and commitment to protect. blowing up at the first asshole to insult me is not something i will do….not for their sake, but mine and the company i work for.

  5. “This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this person do this. I’ve seen them in action a few times and a few other coworkers have complained about that person. Problem is management doesn’t do a thing about it. “

I’m glad you have a reputation of integrity GV obviously the jerk in this bitch doesn’t and he seems to be a serial offender. For the sake of one’s own sanity, you gotta put a stop to this.
This bitch, to me, is about a workplace bully who seems to act with impunity. The bully gets upset if the table is turned. Am I reading this wrong? Please advise GV.

  6. I think this bitch is about a grumpy vigilante employee that now thinks it is ok to do or say anything to a bully employee so long as the bully draws first blood.

“Problem is management doesn’t do a thing about it. “

She doesn’t know that. They could be building a file on the bully and she wouldn’t know because it is obvious that management doesn’t fill her in on every little thing they do.

  7. one bully employee is a problem worker

multiple employee is now a problem work culture

miss “bitchy victim” just fucked up her workplace

  8. My previous reply was to your previous to last post GV.
What makes you think OP is female? What does she do, just take it until mgmt gets their thumb out of their ass?

  9. OP needs to stop martyring herself and facilitate managements wishes. vigilante work ethics will burn her in the long run.

  10. yeah, but shit attracts better. you need to learn one of two things. the first is never give them a good laugh, the second, is a good kick in the nuts or vag.

  11. GV: standing up for one’s self in the work place is NEVER wrong.

You sound like the type that would let a co worker ass rape you with a stick for the ‘sake of the company.’

Where did OP state they did anything other than call this person out? If someone was being disrespectful to me, be it at work or otherwise, I’d have no problem being assertive and saying “look, your behaviour towards me is unacceptable, and I will not tolerate it any longer.” No one deserves to be treated with disrespect, especially in the work place.

99% of employers don’t give two shits about their employees (the ones who claim they do are usually the ones who are the worst), when it comes right down to it, so this whole “Imma get bum fucked against my will for the sake of my employer!” is just naive and really fucking stupid.

I’m sorry, but you sound like you need to grow a set of balls, GV.

  12. That was hilarious Mel. I’m not sure which is more funny, the antics of David Thorne or the deadpan way Simon writes him up!

  13. lol That shit was hilarious Mel.

Proof (if it’s real) that some companies really don’t give a shit.

I mean the odd office prank is cool IMO but god damn.

OP, I empathize, I can’t stand when people want to dish it out but can’t take even a little bit of it.

Don’t give it if you can’t take it!

  14. “Where did OP state they did anything other than call this person out?”

good point, however, where did I say that I would volunteer to get stick raped?

  15. “You sound like the type that would let a co worker ass rape you with a stick for the ‘sake of the company.’ “

I didn’t say you volunteered, I said it SOUNDED like it. Read between the lines a little. 😉

Your entire post seethed of some office lap dog so far up the company’s ass it isn’t funny.

In this day and age one has to look out for themselves because your employer sure isn’t.

There’s no such thing as job stability, and you’re just an employee number, bud.

If you think not standing up for yourself is ‘integrity’ then you should probably acquire a dictionary and look up the meaning of the word.

  16. maybe that is the difference, I don’t work in an office, I work in a lab where if someone says something insulting, they aren’t likely to hear it back because it is so much safer to question the person and make them look like an effen idiot.

    it goes something like this:

bully:”you didn’t follow proper procedure, idiot”

me” oh really? what is the proper procedure?”

    bully “umm……ummmm……ummm”

me” thats what I thought, have a nice day!”

  17. kitteh,

OP doesn’t sound like she stayed calm and rational. It sounded like she was hormonal.

Don’t mistake my dislike for hormonal vigilantism with a lack of standing up for myself.

  18. A friend of a friend of a friend is the OP for this Bitch. Here’s a little info:

    1. The OP is male

    2. The OP works in a lab……

    Hmmm………

  19. And office, lab or call centre work environment what’s the difference really? There will always be coworkers that think they are better than everyone else and can do whatever they way, say whatever they want, and treat their coworkers however they want. I’m a big believer in what goes around comes around…sounds like the bully in this post got what he deserved. Karma is a bitch.

I’m just surprised at how GV jumped to the conclusion so fast that the OP was a female. What does that matter?

  20. Honestly, i have never worked in a place where people behaved like they were still in high school. So maybe you all are correct, ie a high school response for a high school bully.
I just feel sorry for the employer that has to put up with the whole lot of you.
Whenever i am faced with conflict in the workplace, i decide right at the beginning what i want to acomplish. I don’t see any value in behaving like a jerk to a jerk. There are better ways to deal with a jerk. Usually they will hang themselves if you give them enough rope.

  21. Still, GV, the OP seems to be by themselves, no support from management and abuse from the jerk. If I am a manager and receive complaints about an employee, similar complaints from different people about the same person, the person in question is going to get written up or fired. I’m not going to sit back and compile a file while somebody is going through hell.
As far as OP is concerned, they can be civil which is good the first time out but after that, the gloves would come off.

  22. Yeah, based on the 100 words we have to go by, it sounds like management isn’t helping any. But this is coming from someone that is justifying their out of character actions toward an insult. Too bad thicker skin didnt prevail.
