It’s not been on that long but let’s face it, we’re sick of these whinging strikers! Well, let’s fight back! If you work in a cafe/coffee shop, go on strike when they come in for coffee. If you work in a supermarket/drug store, go on strike if you see one of them come in looking for Preparation H. Lord knows they’re causing us a pain in harris, let’s give them one back! —We Need Thatcher

The only people you’re inconveniencing there are people just like you or me that have nothing to do with the strike. How does it effect the strikers at all?
I believe PC Provincial leader, Jamie Baillie, got it right – lock the fuckers in a room with a mediator, slip a pizza under the door every few hours and not let them out until this whole shit storm is settled. I, for one, couldn’t care less about this fucking strike but I am totally opposed to holding the most vulnerable of our populace hostage.
I’m at the point now where I think I could seriously get behind THIS kind of a strike against the strikers:

Maybe a little over the top? Yeah…maybe you’re right….Ok. I’d settle for a bunch of these, trained and ready to deploy in a moment’s notice:

My professors are most likely going to strike … I can’t exactly strike back … new suggestions op.
Donk – keep learning on your own time. That’ll show ’em and It will pay off in the end.
BINDINGFUCKINGARBITRATION!!!! Can’t happen soon enough!
How would you like to go to work in Dartmouth say the bridge. For 4 hours you are working.
Then be off work over at Mumford bus terminal….& in 4 hours later & have to be back to work in Highfeild park ?
Split shifts SUCK & I know my job sometimes has them as well.
So what do you do for 4 hours off …oh wait you’re not really off, because you got to get to your ride or take a bus…then make sure you make it to Highfeild in time for your next 4 hour shift !
I see why they want to have the ability to pick shifts. IF & its a big fucking IF
1 or 2 of the 52 managers at Metro transit could leave their well paid cushy seats “monitoring the drivers” & figure out a more fair system this wouldn’t be a problem. But until you walk a mile or waste an hour or 2 trying to get from the end of your first shift & over to the beginning parking spot & then on to your 2nd shift maybe you should shut up.
thacher would have to go thru parliment and the p.m. first. and o.p., be careful what you wish for. i hear canada is going to adopt some u.s. style shit in next couple of years.
courts and policing are one i heard about. hospitals and health care are another. and you know how much it sucks to live stateside, right?
but then again, maybe some of the shitheads on the street deserve the new justice system to come. 3 strikes and you are fucked. love that idea.but strikes are sometimes a nessesary evil, as i said before, without the unions, you,at your job, would be really fucked without them.trust me, i know what that is lke too.
THIS JUST IN – A.T.U. Local 508 members have voted overwhelmingly to stop showing up at picket lines and rallys unless union leadership allows them to pick their own schedules. Spokesman Les Fermor says “I’ve been striking for over 20 years and it just isn’t fair that I shouldn’t be allowed to choose where and when I chant Hay Hay, Ho Ho. It’s a matter of principle” When reached for comment all Ken Wilson could do was mumble some shit about how capitalism isn’t working.
Ken Wilson seems like a dick. He’s one of those drivers with a shit ton of seniority, thus, he’s not going to bring anything to the membership to vote that isn’t in favour of him cherry picking his shifts.
I’m totally of the mindset that a collective agreement shouldn’t take things away that have already been won, but my GOD, enough is enough!
It’s costing the city too much to sustain rostering AND a substantial raise in wages. Period. MOST collective bargaining gets maybe 1.5% for its members in wage increases — the City has offered 3.5% at one point! The bus costs enough as it is — all metro transit is going to do is push the costs onto the rider. I’ve gotten to a point where I’m sick and tired of having to use the bus and paying more for the same shitty service so a bunch of drivers that’ve been there since before Jesus was crucified can gobble up all the over time they can get their mitts on really rubs me the wrong way.
The newer drivers probably would love to get rid of rostering! Then they wouldn’t have to be on spare board for 50 years! Being on spare board would suck, from what I’ve heard about it. Who’s to say WHAT the newer members would vote if some of the offers presented were taken to the membership! Mr Wilson can’t take that chance, now can he?
I’ve come to a point where I’m starting to lose my patience with this strike (a big step for me, ms. union-supporter). I’m spending over $100 more/month to get to and from work. I can afford it, but ffs, why should I have to dole out that kind of $$$ when I’m paying taxes for a public transit system? I’m not upset at most of the membership — it’s Wilson and his cronies that need a kick in the balls at this point.
I just plan on not paying to get on the busses when they’re back on the streets. Ive already spent too much money I cannot afford on cabs. Fuckem.
