Why did the province outbid a private developer for the Bloomfield school 2 to 1? 15 million dollars for an abandoned school on Agricola? 15 million taxpayer dollars? When the NSHDC submitted a shoddy application scored at 22/50 points and the best private bid had 44/50? Why is the province competing with private business with my tax dollars? So not only are we out 15 million dollars for an abandoned school, we could have had 6 million dollars of non-taxpayer dollars to pay for what was a much better plan? Brilliant. We wonder why we have the highest taxes in the country and no one wants to do business here. —Taxed to Death for Stupid Political Reasons

For ‘balancing a budget’, we sure are spending like a drunken uncle on black friday….
It’s because this NDP government just loves to spend the taxpayers money and when they need more, to increase taxes and user fees.
I hate the NDP because they said one thing when they were in opposition and did quite another as government. This is one bunch of fucking bozos I hope will never graces a majority in the legislature again. Fucking liars and hypocrites all. Just ask Joanie about this govenment’s commitment to unions – bahawhawhawhaw!!
…Two months later, the Piranha Brothers came up with what they called “The Other Operation”….
I bet Tim has a big rubbery one over this.
The province is getting into the medical marijuana growing business, to support the feds new laws concerning production and distribution of medical marijuana. What better place than in an abandoned school gym. Finally the lights are on, aaaaand someones actually home.
Darell Dexter, the best Conservative premier since Bob Stanfield.
Will he make an appearance at the Tory annual convention in February to receive his award ?
Must be getting close to election time spend spend spend spend
Don’t forget, it’s only taxpayers money, it isn’t REAL money.

Fucking brilliant HRM! Crackhouses shall soon abound! Bye bye Bloomfield!
Your facts are wrong!
2nd was Dexel Dev. with 66/100 points
1st was NSHDC with 73/100 and they met all minimum requirements of the proposal call.
As to opinions as to whether taxpayers should support 10,000sf of commercial market space for the creative industry type folks in this city (for taxpayers), 20,000sf of AFFORDABLE community and cultural space (for taxpayers), about 30,000sf for public open space (for taxpayers), and about 30,000sf of newly renovated AFFORDABLE mixed housing types for mixed income types (for taxpayers) is really dependent on whether you believe in us all being a “society” or if we should all be fighting and clawing against each other – may the best man win.
If you believe in the concepts of a civilized social society then you may believe in NSHDC’s mandate which is to promote and develop affordable housing (for taxpayers) which they will do and will do with taxpayers support (funding).
NSHDC can do this directly by developing the Bloomfield site themselves or they can do this behind the scenes with a developer or others executing their mandate to promote and develop affordable housing (for taxpayers). Ultimately they will spend taxpayers money one way or the other to these ends, they are funded to do so.
Does it really matter much which way they do this? Is it a waste of taxpayers money to do this?
I think the real question here was whether the developers bidding on the proposal call should have known that NSHDC was going to be submitting a bid too. Maybe all they had to do was ask?
I sure as all fuck wouldn’t want to be the other 60% living cheek by jowl with the untermesch 40%
