You all know the ones I mean: the grown-up little boys playing Hot Wheels every single Sunday from Spring to Thanksgiving, every single Sunday between 5 and 9 p.m., streetracing their roaring muscle cars and screaming motorcycles round and round the block–along Inglis then South Park and God knows where else. Hour after hour. They ruin every single Sunday evening on the Peninsula for half the year: my open windows are downwind of their pollution, I can’t concentrate to read a book, and they drown out my TV. I can’t understand why the police (and public) tolerate this illegal behaviour of speeding and reckless and dangerous driving. It’s not as if it’s “only” an occasional thing–it’s EVERY SINGLE SUNDAY between 5 and 9–you could set your watch by these guys. Why not plant a few unmarked cop cars along the route and bust these lawless bastards? Apart from the noise nuisance, it’s only a matter of time before these guys kill —I want my Sunday evenings backand I DON’T want to lose a neighbour

  1. Try cling the police and making a complaint. They only use The Coast to wipe the fat arses…

  2. Unless they close down Point Pleasant at 4pm in the afternoon during “nice car season” this will always be happening. The problem is when you have exhaust and headers on your car you don’t need to even be going fast for it to be extremely loud. I used to live on Atlantic and it does get a little ridiculous on the weekends.

  3. I recommend calling your councillor. This is the sort of thing we pay them to deal with. It’s both a noise issue and a traffic safety issue.

  4. Yo Duke. I had written in a complaint about the motor bikes on Argyle (non painted area) revving it up like idiots. Said he couldn’t do much about it.
I live in Clayton Park and you should hear the motorbikes red lining it on the 102. WOW!

  5. Senor,
I hear ya’. Makes you wonder who actually has all the rights in our society. Seems to me the anti-socials have all the freedoms and protections.

BTW, a nurse once told me they get so many motorbike injuries that they call them “murdercycles” down at the emergency ward.
