So there is this very expensive winter coat fashion statement sweeping the country that has real coyote fur trimmed hoods. Stop standing there saying it’s ok because” it’s done humanly” the only humane way to take an animal’s fur is if it dies of natural causes, or if they are killed as a food source and even that’s not super HUMANE with the way mass production farming is growing larger. Let me educate you a little outside of your “its ok its humane bubble”. I went on this company’s website to see what background they give on the fur used on their product and it lead me to the standards of humane trapping in Canada which allow hunters to use leg traps, and body gripping traps. These traps will break the coyote’s neck, break their paw, or take hold of their ear ect so they are left to starve and whine in pain until they either die of starvation or are shot in the head when they are found by a hunter. Does that sound humane to you????? Sure doesn’t sound it to me. Also these traps are to be placed 274 meters outside of residential areas and even less surrounding provincial parks. So these traps not only catch coyotes they catch household pets as well….all so you can have your 700 dollar status symbol. Yes I’m well aware coyotes are caught regardless in order to keep the population at bay as they are known to be aggressive….but when you bulldoze their natural habitat where do you expect them to go????? You want to buy that coat….I can’t stop you! But stop lying to yourself and saying it is produced humanely, stop saying it’s the only coat that’s warm enough for winter especially when you only live in NS NOT THE ARTIC! And just admit it you don’t care how it’s made….you don’t care what animal has to die……its expensive…it’s a trend…it’s a status symbol and you want it. It took me all of 10 minutes to look up the information regarding trapping in Canada to see just how that fur trim make is to those lovely coats…… —Start asking questions

Ugh fur! Sure kill and skin an animal to feed your vanity. There’s nothing utterly self-entitled about that.
It is true that trapping animals for their fur is violent, and can be cruel. The same can be also said of the leather goods that we use/wear, the meat that we eat .. even the world that we live in. Few people who complain about such things are less than hypocritical, if all is considered.
It’s safe to say that life is mostly suffering. The solution doesn’t seem to be trying to convince people to act decently .. many have attempted this and failed. Life is a continuing act of violence, you see, whether we like it or not.
The real solution to what bothers you in life? Here is my opinion, for your consideration:
Right view, right resolve, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration. These are the wings of awakening to a world of happiness, if you care to investigate these notions.
The last paragraph – it’s like a shelf of self-help books vomited. Wings of awakening????? OMF, you really are a flake!
stop eating meat before u accuse ppl wearing fur of being bunch of feeling less assholes. u think eating meat is more humane because…. there is less waste? lol i bet i save more animals by following a vegan diet despite the fact that i own things made of fur/leather. so plz stop being a hypocrite, go vegan and then u can tell me how cruel am i for wearing leather shoes. other than that do not speak
Meet is delicious and it is good for you, I love eating meat. Fur keeps you warm in cold temperatures. I don’t wear fur cause I think it looks stupid on all these trendy fucks, not because I have a moral stance against it. But also, I don’t like the idea of animals suffering for my dinner/fashion/etc. I don’t think OP is accusing people of being ‘feelingless assholes’ for wearing fur, I think they are accusing a certain company of lying about how the fur is obtained. The OP also correctly concludes that the people who purchase these products don’t care one way or the other how the fur is obtained, despite the fact that some of them claim it is produced humanely.
Also, while people like OP generally annoy me I think this bitch does make a valid point. Our society has become ultra-consumerist and wasteful. Even with all the information available to us, we don’t know/care/can’t be bothered to learn about where/how the products we use are made and by whom or at what cost. In an environment like this you end up with cruelty toward animals, dangerous chemicals in your food/clothing, skyrocketing cancer rates and a plethora of other terrible things ROUTINELY. That’s what happens when the only thing that matters is the all-mighty dollar.
Op was your coat made in a sweatshop? I only ask because if you’re gonna do this thing, see it through to the end.
Fuck Coyotes, they’re vicious and we don’t need them. Why aren’t you worried about the cute cows, as you chomp on your burger in your leather boots? You just jelly you can’t afford one of dese sweet coats. Goose down, bitch. 5 geese in here and half a coyote – size large. Don’t be jelly.
MORE FUR MORE FUR MORE FUR!!!!
MORE MEAT MORE MEAT MORE MEAT!!!!
FUCK PETA FUCK PETA FUCK PETA!!!!
Anyone can use the fur on my head to make trimmed hoods after I pass away from natural causes, please don’t kill me just for my pelt.

OP, you have way too much time on your hands. You spent 10 minutes looking up information about how the fur trim is made and another hour to write about it. It isn’t your money/coat/fur/cunt to worry about. Why waste your resources on something so meaningless?
Iwona Rafalska, where does this person say she eats meat? uhm nowhere, why would you assume they do and are being a hypocrite?
no_fool, you are a fool, no wait, you are a fucking moron. Coyotes are not vicious, there have been a few rare cases of attacks on humans, but that is not the norm. Again, where does the post say this person isn’t vegan? Nowhere. Stop making stupid assumptions to make yourself feel better about your actions. And learn to speak and spell properly while you’re at it.
Koda, you are the biggest idiot here. It’s smart to research a topic before speaking out against it, not a waste of time. Educating the public about things that affect us all is being a good citizen of the planet. Animal industries are the most environmentally polluting industries on Earth. The human race is a disease.
and everyone looks like clones. I don’t get it. Why are people so easily fooled into trends? It’s almost as bad as the purple pants…
Hulk like purple pants!!!

So many fundamental flaws in OB’s bitch, I won’t be able to address more than the first sentence.
“So there is this very expensive winter coat fashion statement sweeping the country that has real coyote fur trimmed hoods”
– from a moral perspective why is ‘expensive’ a bad thing? It has no bearing on your claims about the humane or inhumane practises.
– Furthermore, is it really sweeping the country? Do you have any sales figures to support this, or are you just adding fancy verbage to your rant?
– OB, I think I know which manufacturer you are referring to. Have you bothered to check their website? Not all jackets have natural fur. Also, many of the jackets use synthetic fill rather than goose down.
My point: please educate yourself before making outlandish claims. When trying to express your point of view, you would be well advised to stick to the facts, or stick to very reasonable claims that don’t need facts. Your BS style creates an air of propaganda bullshit that will only work against you.
How about baby seal skin instead?
Anyone who spends that much on a jacket that isn’t going to Antarctica is a fucking moron.
I take great solace in the fact that at least a few of those nimrods will end up losing it at the bar eventually….
Function > fashion
I could buy 14 coats for those insane prices.
just because someone is not living in a hollowed out tree, wearing a leaf loincloth and eating dandelion fluff doesn’t mean they have no right to say ‘such and such’ should not be.
you pick your battles. you react to what grabs your heart. small steps leading to big changes down the road.
yeah, sometimes a hypocritical asshole will spout nonsense about what other people are doing or not doing, but how often is the phrase ‘you have no right to take a stand until you do these 10 kazillion things first’ spoken by some asshole who refuses to take any steps at all and tries to use the all or nothing excuse.
(re-reading that sentence I have to cop to the senile dementia. its like a corn maze)
Fur, monkey brains, rhino horns, tiger bones. All in the same category for me. The unnecessary annhilation of living things for pomp and adornment. The basic essence of human arrogance.
We have needed meat to sustain ourselves from animals bred from agricultural practices some 7 to 10 thousand years. Those animals have been bred to the point where they couldn’t exist without us. That differs greatly from “harvesting” wild animals for a “look”.
Larger wild mammals and birds are disappearing from the wild at an alarming rate. All for the sake of trophies, folk medicines etc. There are those dull-witted types that think an animal is an animal is an animal and make no distinction between their intelligence or rarity or value to it’s ecosystem. It’s a mindset that needs to change.
Value Village has down-filled coats (no fur trim) for ten bucks. You could go somewhere warm for 2 weeks with the savings by not buying a trendy coat.
Well jonnsgirl, you’ve outed yourself as the op so you can stop talking about your bitch in the third person now.
I don’t disagree about the whole animal industry thing. I just think you sound like a twat.
OC but think of the poor duckies and goosies that have to lose their feathers. Of course we could use synthetic fibers but alas most use oil in their production and another protest will happen. Of course the anti-oil and PETA could take each other out. It would either be very boring or funny to watch the melee.
A little late to this party, but here goes: _my_ main issue is that the fucks creating these masterpieces of “humanely-killed” canine and waterfowl stuffed into nylon or whatever they’re made of are both trying to sell these things for $700 and suing major retailers for daring to offer a similar-quality product, THE SAME PRODUCT THEY’VE BEEN SELLING THE ENTIRE 60 YEARS THEY’VE OPERATED IN THIS COUNTRY, for less than 20% of the “prestige” brand’s product. Well, we all know that most “luxury goods” are manufactured in the same facilities as purported knockoffs, and that often there is little difference in the quality of such goods. I see no reason why anyone in their right mind would pay such a ridiculously high price for any item that would have served an 18th-century trek into the Arctic better than the streets of this city during even the coldest winter day. All it is about is the label and the bragging rights of having it stolen from the coffee shop across whose couch you laid it along with the half-dozen others. Better ones can be found at the Sally Ann or Value Village.
