why are old people so stupid? why do they feel entitled to my time? why do they place their order at the bar when, obviously, there is a huge fucking line where people are ordering? why? i honestly dont understand 😐 its infuritating. get some fucking glasses im not gonna list every fucking pastry off to you…. get a brain, step back… look at the menu board and place your fucking order like a NORMAL person. also stop fucking complaining about EVERYTHING. i dont care.
some elderly customers are BOMB- we love you…
but most are horrid…example… “whats that?” “a cranberry muffin” “whats behind that?” ‘thats a cranberry muffin” “oh then whats that to the left?” “a blueberry muffin” …..READ THE FUCKING TAG?!?!?!?!??!?! holy fuck i dont have time for this bullshit…. it honestly makes me wonder how these people function in everyday life
i wanna say im concerned but mostly im just annoyed. this is like 90% of older customers…. holy shit.

  1. I believe it’s because they have all the time in the world to spare.
The ones you refer to as the ‘bomb’… are likely those that haven’t retired and still understand the pace of the working world.

the rest… not so much. We cater to them because we are to ‘respect our elders’… or so the elders say…. repeatedly.

  2. Older customers might not be able to read the fucking sign. They’re old and their eyes are likely bad. I have to squint to read the signs in Tim Horton’s to get my daily blueberry bran muffin and I’m in my 30s. Those things are bloody small.

  3. Here is a hint to the OP. GET A FUCKING EDUCATION AND A REAL FUCKING JOB!!!!!! I get a huge kick out of people like you. Moron. You are working at Tim Hortons for the minimum wage and you have the fucking balls and ignorance to sit there and frown on a person who is elderly? Give me a fucking break. Chances are if you are serving coffee for a living then you have way more issues than an elderly person who may be a little too slow for your liking. YOu serve coffee and donuts for a living. Get over yourself and suck it up sister.

  4. As a cootster I’m offended by your attack on us feeble minded old gits, what’s that you say, turn down the TV, where are my glasses, oh did I forget to put my teeth in again, could these pants be any higher without covering my tits, I thought polyester was a natural fabric, a pastry at Tims don’t you mean a frozen delicacy trucked in from Ontario.
Us oldies, like a lot of the youngies, work hard to indulge in buying coffee and pastries that are being served by someone who has the IQ of a dead dogs dick.

  5. The OP’s attitude seems a little self-centred and narrowly avoids thinking ahead to realize that with any luck one day they will also be faced with the degenerative challenges of the elderly. Whatever happened to compassion and respect?

  6. OP – although i agree with the basic statement that this can be a frustration, your use of caps, ellipses and and horrid sentence structure just makes me write you off as another 18-22 year old weekend barstar bitch-skank.

This is the upcoming generation of whiny fuck heads that the “your special” brand of parenting is producing, scary isn’t it?

  7. Maybe the OP will do society a favor and drop dead before she gets to be a senior. That way we will not need to put up with her lack of eyesight, slow reflexes, etc.

  8. I can’t fucking stand young people that have no respect for their elders. When I was little it was always Sir or Ma’am. Now some kids barely even acknowledge older people as human beings let alone show them respect.

OP, regardless of whether or not your customer is old they are you CUSTOMER all the same. They could have dyslexia, double vision, they might not be NORMAL people, but it doesn’t matter because it’s your job to serve them with a smile and if that means reading a few words then you fucking do it. What are you being paid for if not serving the public? Which by the way includes elderly people as well as people with vision problems.

    You’re such an asshole.

  9. Hey OP… you’re slaggin’ your CUSTOMER. Service her! What do you think you’re there for? So you can “not care”? Think again.

  10. My dad’s eyes are super bad and he can’t read signs, but he can generally “see” so he’d probably be one of the ones asking — my point? a lot of older people (my dad’s pushing 65) can see things, but can’t read signs.

I hope you experience the same thing someday, OP, and I hope people are shitty to you! Fizz is right: you’re an asshole.

And for once I agree with Kay. *shudder*

  11. i agree you have to be nice when your in the service ind. but as i worked briefly on the seafood counter of a major grocery chain some people are just eff’n fowl; older cust. were some of the worst; i could spot them coming towards my counter thinking omg their on a mission to make someones life a living hell and sure enough mission accompilished; nothing you could do wuold make them happy; sometimes i would have to ask the meat guys to take over so i wouldn’t tell them to fuck off

  12. HAHA. The best part is this OP asks: “why do they feel entitled to my time?”… They probably feel entitled to your time because it’s YOUR JOB.

  13. martym – the old one heading your way was probably thinking, oh fuck I have to deal with this little turd again, he doesn’t know the difference between haddock and halibut and wouldn’t know a salmon steak even if it swam up his trousers and bit him in the nuts.
Fuckology is a two way street.

  14. actually mr. fawlty i know more about seafood than the manager as i have been cooking for 30 years and was happy to recommend what i thought was the best/freshest ie: it’s summer the marlin came in a couple of hours ago beauty on the bbq with a fresh salsa; no I’m talking about blue hairs with full depends or late for the bridge club or something

  15. The really funny thing about your post, OB, is that you will be doing that job FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE unless you smarten up.

    Happy serving!

  16. i think not i was just taking a sabbatical from the pans; just got a gig in whistler for the olympics toodles ns

  17. I’m sorry OP how’s your benefit plan hmm? Bet some of these older folks can’t afford new glasses as often as they should have them. You’ll be in the same boat if you (manage to somehow) keep your job. You might want to rethink where you work, if you don’t want to deal with old customers work somewhere where the audience is different.

  18. Great bitch…almost laughed my ass off… the line “why do they feel entitled to my time” as a service worker…exactly what do you think they are entitled to ? ahhhhhhh, very funny bitch & I agree with all the folks who are suggesting you need a different job, quickly.

  19. Ha Ha…funny….wait a minute….the OB still has twitch in the third finger on the right hand…..clickityclick…BANG!BANG!………………there….dead!

  20. The OB is pissed cause the “old coots” get more in their retirement pay than he or she does in their paycheque.

  21. I bet the OP believes that she should receive tips for merely slanging muffins and coffee also. Sounds like one of those Starbucks cunts who think they’re diamond-coated bartenders.

  22. I must admit, as stupid as the OP is, I do get irritated if I’m in a line at Tim Horton’s and the person at the front is taking foooorrrreevverr to order, especially when I’m on a fifteen minute break from work and it takes ten minutes to get through the line of four people.

Other than that, the OP is a total ass.

  23. When I reach my 60s, I fully intend to be a dirty old man and perv/hit on all the hot young female service industry workers. Like father, like son I guess! My dad’s notorious for this, and I say good on the old guy.

  24. I don’t agree with the OB’s rude stereotyping of the elderly but I also think characterizing all people who work food service or retail jobs as being stupid is just as unfair. The elderly are entitled to polite, patient customer service, just like everyone else and food service workers are entitled to be treated with respect. Working in food service or retail is not glamourous or well paid but it’s honest work. Please, for the good of your own sanity as well as the good of the donut buying public..GET A NEW JOB OP. Hopefully, one that will not bring you in contact with other people on a regular basis.
