To the idiot(s) who stole our kayaks from our backyard
this week, I wish that you go for a paddle and get swamped
by a “perfect storm” kind of a wave. I loved these boats and paddled them all over NS (eastern shore, south shore, Cape Breton, tidal bore, etc). Apparently you have been stealing boats all summer which makes me believe that someone, somewhere knows what you did and you will eventually get caught. —Boatless Paddler

  1. I do feel for you OB.
I own a canoe & a kayak & they are great fun….& I suppose could be called a green activity, although the making of said boats is pretty enviormentally unfriendly…not that it bothers me, but someone would have probably pointed that out !

  2. Seems as if people will stoop to any level to nick stuff. A friend of mine owns a Honda CRV, an older model where the spare tire is on the back door and has a hard plastic cover over it, some thieving git stole the hard plastic cover when it was parked behind her house – replacement $700+

  3. Mr. More, if you can demonstrate that the tree which provided the wood for your canoe or kayak, willingly made the decision to end his ,or her, own life in a hospice or other accredited institution surrounded by caring nurturers and at least one N.D.P. member of parliament – you should have no problem with the greenie-weenies shitting on your choice of recreation.

  4. Sorry Ivantoofar…my Canoe, while being made in Nova Scotia is a fiberglass one.
My kayak is one of those ‘plastic’ type with an aluminum rudder that raises & lowers with a couple of storage compartments . I use them on Grand Lake & in the Rivers out here.

  5. Back in the late 80’s when the harbour filled with pack ice one spring I was down in the Properties on a Saturday morning and saw someone kayaking through the bergs. I kicked myself for nor having a camera.

  6. Hey Ivan Too Far….IF that guy in the late 80’s was in a Sea kayak, with a red top, white bottom….that was my brother.
He used to be really into kayaking & canoeing, so much so that when the first kevlar canoes were first being built in the States, he bought one & drove down to get it…it was crazy expensive like 2 grand + for a canoe in the early/mid 1980’s
He got ‘questioned’ by US military once, when he kayaked out to see a US aircraft carrier up close.
He’s paddeled around the Province, he’s traveled from Halifax Harbour up the shubie cannal to Grand Lake , down to Minas Basin across the Bay of Fundy & up the St. John River to somewhere up by St Croix…canoeing up river !
Not me, I prefer to go down river ~;)

  7. It was pretty visible – mighta been red. Kule!

“i like big boats and i cannot lie” PG – For. The. Win.

  8. OB< why didn't you have them stored in your house? Anything left outside is free for the taking. Just ask the crackheads and Occupy protesters.

  9. They must have seen the kayaks before at your place OP. One would have to be pretty organized to steal a couple of those. Pretty ballsy too. Of course, I know of somebody getting their 20,000 litre swimming pool stolen while they slept. One of those above-ground type with the blow-up ring. How they pulled that one off is beyond me.

  10. They used to play that song at my junior high school dances… But don’t worry, they bleeped out “horny”! Then they get pissed if you hold hands with someone pffffft. Christina Agularayreisua’s Dirty was also another favorite. Yet I’m not a teen mother whore slut cum dumpster.
