What is with every second home displaying a giant star on the house? Is this a religious symbol? Seriously… it looks so tacky. Leave the Christmas decorations for Christmas and have some class Nova Scotia. —Star hater

Yeah actually I believe it is a religious symbol. Like the Jewish star thing. Don’t put them on your house then?
“the jewish star thing”…
nice.
you do realize if you had actually googled “the jewist star thing” you would have got back that it’s the star of david.
way to put in the effort.
I thought it meant they were into wife swapping
I haven’t noticed many stars of david around, only tin 5-point stars that were sold at every home decor store a couple of years ago. I don’t think they have any thing to do religion, just poelpe tryin’ to be trendy.
it’s acadians showing their pride.. you’ll see a shitload more in new brunswick than here
Well I don’t really care much for religion so why would I care if I said it right? Clearly I don’t think it’s called the “Jewish star thing”. Like I would spend even a second of my lunch on researching religion. Jeez.
🙂
still… not that it offended me at all… just found it funny.
yea i saw those everywhere when i took the train to Halifax from TO. I asked like 20 Haligonians and half of them looked at me like I was crazy; never did get a full explanation; they’re kinda cool 🙂
the ones i have seen are just plain brown stares, i don’t think they are there to cast spells…just decoration, either way i don’t give a shit
I assumed that they were just the latest shitty decoration a la gnomes, ribbons, and ‘Silhouette of dude smoking while leaning against building’.
Ah, god damn. I’m sitting in my living room right now, and out the front door, on the house across the street is a big star. It’s green.
It’s annoying.
I’ll be removing that this evening.
who fucking cares
People, they’re called “barn stars”:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barnstar
They aren’t only in Halifax..
when i went back home to Newfoundland for a visit i noticed there were barn stars on every freakin house that we passed. Its just a trend now, don’t be hatin’ 🙂
i like the pennsylvania dutch hex signs on barns…very cool
never seen one, and couldn’t care less…
Seriously…if you have never seen one you must be fuckin retarded. LOGIC, I wouldn’t care about them either…I’d be more worried about my blindness. I agree with the OP. They are super lame and tacky.
it is just something that people wanna do o.p., just like you like to have a crap, when you have to. don’t sweat it, the jews are not taking over, neither is santa.
How is seeing, or not seeing, something on the side of a house related to one’s mental state? I can see saying “If you haven’t seen one, you must be blind” but to call someone retarded because they haven’t seen one? Seems an odd comparison.
Lol life sucks!
The stars are harmless. People with hearts cut into their shutters however creep me out. Cole Harbour has a bumper crop of these.
Again, never seen one. Hardly blind or retarded… Maybe I just don’t give a shit what people put on their houses. Certainly don’t let it affect my day… I find your reference to me being blind/retarded the only lame/tacky thing here…
sofa king we tarded…logic it is the latter. it’s otay you will survive without seeing them…kinda like titanic and avatar
I apologize for the retard comment…
