What the fuck is wrong with getting a real job and contributing to society? I’m referring to the squeegee-fucks at the Willow-tree. Just because the goddamn light turns red doesn’t mean I want my goddamn window (that I washed 2 days before) scrubbed with your piece-of-shit squeegee. It was fucking worse after. And If I say “I don’t need it cleaned”, it means “Get the fuck lost you dirty cocksucker”. I lost count of how many times you hit my new wipers, be thankful you didn’t damage them.
And when you’re done “your job”, don’t expect a fucking penny from me. I’m not going to work every day to lose 25% of what I should get to the government and then give you some of my net pay. Fuck You, it is my money, I’ll do what I please with it and you cocksuckers will never see any of it.

The squeegee kids get in the way and annoy the drivers by washing windows when they don’t want them washed. The “BUM” is just sitting there asking for change, you can give it or not. I prefer the beggar to the squeegee kid. They are not providing any real service rubbing their dirty water onto your car. Maybe if they invested some of their “hard earned” change into buying a jug of washer fluid, they might actually clean a windshield once in a while.
I think there are a lot of things wrong with getting a real job these days. Most of us spend 40 hours a week working jobs we hate, simply so we can afford to have somewhere to go home to, and food to eat, and MAYBE a bit of entertainment. Being a squeegee kid or a panhandler is basically just another career choice these days. I personally don’t see how people working at WalMart are contributing to society anymore than people washing windows at street corners. The money in either case is going to horrible things, drugs and booze, or rich white men who abuse their workers and then buy drugs and booze.This is why I don’t shop at Walmart, and I don’t give money to beggars or squeegee kids. It’s the exact same thing in my mind. If you don’t want/like the service being offered, don’t buy it. But don’t put down the people who are working the jobs, they’re just trying to make enough money to feed themselves, and hopefully afford a place to go home to.

I have made this comment before in regards to another bitch not to long ago but I figure it pertains to this one also .I was walking home last summer through the commons and saw the “squeegee kids” that hang out at the willow tree washing windows( if you can call it that ) sitting in a circle under a tree passing around a bottle of Jack Daniels.If they were actually using the money to buy food for themselves or their dogs that would be a little better but to buy a bottle of Jack so they can get a buzz that is just pathetic I swore to never give them change again even if they did wash my window without my consent .

Take a look at the mess in front of Quinpool Superstore sometime. I guess putting your shit in the trash and cleaning up after yourself would be too much like ‘being part of society’ as well. I believe both, squeegeers and bums alike, are terrible. I don’t think there’s anything called homeless in NS, or in Canada actually. Homeless only happens because you want it to happen. Jobless only happens because you want it to happen. I don’t support either, nor will I ever, since i spoke to a few, read articles and interviews with those certain individuals, that claim they do this because it’s more fun and they make more money. If the rest of the city ignores them, they’ll go away!

Do you think those people lined up at free kitchens, begging for change, collecting your recycling and pushing around the shopping cart of the day leave warm cozy homes each morning to do it? A ten year old would notice this! Pull your head out of your ass and look around, why don’t you?
Just one person chiming in who actually was homeless as a teen (by choice) due to a sexually abusive home. Not sure how many of ‘me’ there are on the street, but homelessness does happen in NS. Sure, it’s a choice, but when you consider the alternatives for some people, it’s really the only recourse they might have.

Thanks, Miles, I’ve worked very hard to get myself out of that situation and now have my own relatively successful business. The crap thing is I can’t really disagree with the OP on this one. A lot of the kids I knew back then were there simply because they ran away from rules and order… something I would have loved had it been offered with warmth and protection. And I still don’t own a dog – because I can’t afford it!
