You guys are all making great money (like 6 or 7 figures) to live your dreams. The problem is the organizations that pay you all this money aren’t. They are losing money.
Maybe some teams need to fold. Maybe harder salary caps are in order. All I know is this whole thing makes me sick, and I think I speak for every NBA fan on earth.
I’m not one of these “you get paid millions JUST to throw a ball through a hoop” people. I have a lot of respect for pro athletes, I think you deserve the money because you’ve sacrificed your whole lives. Getting a spot on a pro roster is no easy task, but surely those who foot the bill for the stadium maintenance, uniforms, logos, coaching/training staff deserve a chance at profit too. I hear you OP, dodged a bullet with the NFL season. Of course, it takes two parties to come to an agreement so save some spleen to vent at the owners as well. I don’t profess to know the issues in the NBA strike but, once again, it’s the fans that take the hit.

HD is the only way to watch sports as far as I’m concerned. Why spend good money on a flat screen to watch standard def that would look better on an old fashioned TV? Seems like a waste of money.
Other stuff like movies, standard def is not so bad, but live events in standard def? Get the fuck with the times. It’s visual terrorism. The sound is pretty awful too.
Yeah, Trood, it’s the players as far as I’m concerned. A lot of them would take a lot less than what is currently on the table just to have a steady paycheck and a career right now. It’s only the elite who are arguing over percentage points because they’re the only ones who are really effected by it, but they’re elite anyways, guys like LeBron and Kobe got sponsorships and endorsements, they’re gonna be rich with or without the NBA.
I don’t see what’s so hard for them to understand. They’re all making a lot of money. 22 out of the 30 teams are losing money. Yes, a lot of the teams spent stupid dollars on mediocre talent and that’s no one’s fault but their own, but still.
I think they need to get rid of some teams. Minnesota and Cleveland come to mind.

It’s not the same thing Bro Tim, and here’s why.
If you want to be a lawyer, you pay your tuition, go to uni, go to law school and when you get out you are guaranteed some type of work. Same goes for doctors and police.
Athletes on the other hand are guaranteed nothing, and often come from nothing. They sacrifice it all for just a shot in hell at MAYBE being able to live their dream. We’re talking ‘winning the lotto’ odds. One injury and it’s all over. They take a huge risk in pursuing their passion. They deserve the big payout. Their careers are also very short.
These guys generate a lot more income than doctors and lawyers and police officers too. Are they as vital to us as a society? No, but that’s not how our economy works. Doesn’t matter if you do penis puppet shows for a living, if millions of people are paying to see it you deserve a nice cut of that money.
You basically just made my argument for me. Doctors and lawyers don’t just show up and do the job, they’ve put years and years into getting where they are today, often making huge sacrifices. The point is these guys do not just get paid to “play a game”. I’m pretty sure if that were possible, nobody would work.

I just don’t watch TV , too many commercials, I know I’ve seen all the feminine commercials & demo’s on absorbancy I ever want to see, even if I live another 100 years.
I miss none of that , nor the stupid shows, like reality tv & advertising every couple of minutes.
There’s lots of things to do besides watch tv.
Go for a walk, its still nice out.
Read a book, I’m reading the ‘Towers of Midnight’ book 13 in the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan.
Get a hobby, I turn wood, play with remote planes & boats. In the winter I make things, like one winter a roll top book case & Stereo stand, on another, an oak Wardrobe with mirrors inset on the inside upper doors.
On the bright side, if there is no season I will have one less excuse not to attend future bitchers summits.

Well paingirl…I wish it hasn’t taken almost 20 years for the series to finally come to a conclusion …& the final book still isn’t out.
But with Mr Jordan being deceased now & his wife & another writer finishing it off …its not the same. Still a good tale but a 20 year wait is IMO a bit much.
But future readers will pick up this series in its completed form & have weeks of reading to get through it…unless you devour books, Mr Jordan was a prolific writer with plots within plots within sub plots & a character list a football field in length.
